Happy 1st anniversary to Jihyo's solo debut and mini-album! Dunno if it's a coincidence that my "Wheel Of Names" chose this song to be the next TWICE lead track for me to discuss but well, what a perfect timing it is.
.) This song deserves more. That's my initial thought about this song. It may be a success but not much compared to Nayeon's, but damn I can say that because of Jihyo's talent and hardwork that she poured onto her solo debut, everything about this song could've gotten a lot more accomplishments.
.) I think this is the era where I started to notice that ONCEs have gotten less engaged to watch TWICE's recent MV releases, probably becoming way expressive now depending if the song or the MV that TWICE releases are intact with their taste or maybe due to some other reasons which they don't force themselves anymore to get exposed to it as much as they can. Honestly, I'm still in disbelief that the views of its music video is still far from half a hundred million, which is a bit uncommon for TWICE's title tracks to have. Until now, sadly their recent MVs are struggling now to reach a hundred million views.
.) Lindgren and Melanie's production of the song was actually great, while I personally think it sounded way more fitting for western market than being for Korean because I honestly adore the english version way better than the original. I can't explain how, but it felt way smoother and catchier to hear the song in English with the R&B-pop infused instrumentals.
.) Jihyo's English pronounciation for another version of this song was admirable and impressive because she sounded so fluent with it. It may have contributed also to how the English ver sounded better for me.
.) The music video was good, although I admit that the closing part got bland and felt more like a dance choreo performance video instead because we have like only a back and forth switching of Jihyo just dancing in two different outfit and setting. The story featured here also felt a bit rushed. I mean I get it, the song isn't actually for brokenhearted but since the story obviously presents the opposite, they could've somehow given a bit more scenes to show how they broke up just like how it showed us their relationship. The good thing about this however is that it inteprets the double meaning of the song's lyrics. Love can make us feel good, but because of what was shown in the MV, it tells us that it can be dangerous at the same time if things gets out of control.
.) Jihyo looks absolutely hot, stunning, and daring for all of her concepts that was used for the making of this song's MV. Props to the stylists involved for giving justice to Jihyo's visuals.
.) This song also deserved more awards and chart records, but it's a relief that atleast we made it possible to give her an music show award. I remember how wholesome her reaction was when she find out that she won in Music Bank.
She also got nominated for Best Female Artist at MAMA last year and won Best Female Soloist in Japan's ASEA 2024.
.) I think the best part about this song is the dance choreo, the chorus itself, and Jihyo's powerful vocals. It all compliments with each other so well with the groove and rhythm that makes Killin Me Good so compelling to listen.
.) This may not have matched the massive impact that Nayeon made with her solo projects, but I'm still giving a huge respect and praise for Jihyo because she definitely proved herself that all her hardwork through more than half of her life working in JYP Entertainment to reach this point of her career to become both a TWICE member and a soloist is indeed worth it and undeniably stood out successfully on its own way.
.) Lastly, Killin Me Good is a good title track, yet the other tracks in the album could've been a stronger contender for this position, but because of Jihyo's energy, aura, and charms she have put into this, it managed to elevate the song atleast for the listeners to accept it with all welcome as another good pieces of music that has a glimpse of TWICE's mature side on it.
