i’m a babyengene so please be kind 🥹

this is more about the logistics of the world they’re in and it’s “rules” about vampire anatomy.

i’ve gathered that the boys don’t completely know the rules of vampire anatomy themselves considering how in “brought the heat back”they don’t know how to “delete” each other and instead cause each other to keep respawningz it might be intentional due to their bond, but in the “dark blood” concept cinema they seem to have another rivalry where they battle (over sooha? even though they all were her knights who protected her? i still don’t understand the sooha situation in terms of love triangle since i read she’s depicted as dating heesung in one moment, k from &team is in love with her, and she refers to sunghoon as “my love” in the dark blood film) and attack each other in another violent but non fatal manner.

however, in the “untold” concept video, their story is set in a place called riverfield where humans are aware of vampires, turn on them, and know how to “delete” them permanently by damaging / detaching their heads (much like the twilight vampires, though i know they have different rules in that world than enhypen’s).

so they’re immortal, but not completely? are they stuck in a timeloop like TXT?

who are the god of death and the son of day? didn’t they overcome the daylight thing and are semi immortal?

also, are they alive or undead? from the “fever” and “brought the heat back” music videos, they light up the same way humans would in thermal scopes (weapon optics that pick up thermal radiation).

also in the “untold” concept video, their veins appear under transillumination (holding a flashlight up to your skin in darkness essentially) and it appears the same as a humans, signaling that there is deoxygenated blood coursing through their veins much like a human’s (i’m not sure if this was a scientific oversight of the directors or if i’m the one who’s incorrect). so they wouldn’t be cold blooded, right? especially since they still react to temperature despite not feeling much pain (vampire plot armor).

also in the “outside” music video, their shadows run away from them reminiscent to the tales of peter pan only they’re more of doppelgängers than they are shadows. what caused that and what does it have to do with vampires? are there other magical elements and creatures other than vampires and wolves?

TLDR:

i guess my main questions are —

are they warm blooded?

are they alive or undead?

who are the god of death and the son of day?

are they in a timeloop?

what’s their mission? why did sooha turn them and send them into the future?

what is the “desire” / “darkness” / “shadows” they fight so vehemently? why does it seem to affect vampires? does it affect the wolves too?

why were they at the gates of hell? is that where the god of death is? are their souls that important to him/her?

what was sooha the princess of?

why was there a “good” sooha and an “evil” sooha in the “orange blood” concept video?

why does enhypen fight over sooha when they were all meant to protect her as a group?

why did they lose their memories?

what did they mean by “fever”? was it thirst for blood without the guidance of their sire or more of a… yk… suggestive kind of thing?

who’s in the sooha love… triangle? square? hexagon? what’s going on there? also is she supposed to represent the fans? is that why our “genes” are connected by destiny (paraphrased the definition of “engene” lol).

(^ i’ll admit i’m not very interested in the “self insert” fan service aspect so i’ll opt out of that for myself but i AM very interested in the rest of their lore and observing the storyline as a passenger / fly on the wall– but if other engene like that yippee!! i’m happy for you!! don’t let me get in the way of your fun!!)

i could honestly keep going so i’m sorry for all the questions but besides their music being amazing, their lore was really the nail in the coffin for turning me into an engene!!

    Welcome baby engene!

The Dark Moon webtoon is the canon lore, and all their concept cinemas and MVs interpret and expand the lore in different ways. Directors have clarified before that what happens in them isn’t the same as the webtoon but is inspired by their canon lore. Which is why you might find several inconsistencies across different media regarding powers, logistics, etc. Those aren’t mistakes, just different takes on their core vampire concept.

A lot of your questions though, can be answered by the webtoon, and others which are song specific are mostly answered in the lyrics. Of course there’s also double meanings, Enha love to have sensual songs that are much deeper and lore relevant if you read between the lines.

Later I might edit this to answer some of your questions 🙂

Hiii! Welcome!! I’m so happy other people get interest in their lore because it’s so captivating and extensive.

VERY BIG SPOILER WARNING!!! My comment will be filled with plot from the Webtoons and lore media, and also rambling warning (I’ll probably split this comment because it will get stupidly big, sorry in advance).

Enhypen has their all-encompassing vampire lore, but the media has different details and interpretations of it, as well as differences in plot points from the main storyline. The webtoon is the most built upon lore storyline, so it’s usually used as canon, but most of their media is at least a little bit involved. With that in mind, I’ll use the webtoon and its derivatives (comics, books, etc.) as my reference for most of my explanations.

The lore has two main timelines, the old time, and the present time (which includes the time since they reincarnated to the orphanage up until the ‘present’ present time when they meet Sooha at school). In the old times, Sooha was called Selen and was the sucessor of the throne of the Kingdom of Vargr (a Silver god wolf that created the sun, rain, became the moon when it died, and had 5 sons, one of which became a lycanthrope to be amongst humans; there’s more to this, but it’s longer).

She had the power of prophecy and was in charge of some rituals in the temples and altars that worshipped Vargr, along with her mother and other believers. She also had 7 knights who fiercely protected her and had their own personal abilities (Heli was the son of their best swordmaster, Solon was the reincarnation of one of the 5 sons of Vargr and could become a blue wolf that was known as a rougarou, etc.). Basically the Kingdom worshipped Vargr and her mother, Bethelia, was the current queen/high priest with the power of abundance and she was the heir and princess, with the power of prophecy; the royalty was heavily involved with the religion and the myth of creation (from the lore ofc).

Then, stuff happened (politics involved non-believers and Dardan and his clan; it had to do with the war prior of the establishment of the kingdom, the fact that they didn’t value divinity, and their obsession with power, which meant they wanted to take it from the Selen and her mom; this is also probably why Dardan steals the remaining Blood of Vargr after Selen had to drink it to cure herself), and Selen, instead of sending her knights to fight, decides to send them to the future (this isn’t explained, but it probably has to do with her power of prophecy).

When they are sent to the future, they basically turn to vampires because of story purposes (I don’t remember if they have explained why but my guess is that it was they only way to safely send them to the future while letting them retain their otherworldly powers) and are kept in an orphanage where they take pills to suppress their power (Children of Vamfield Chapter 1 and Given-Taken). They can die, but their current life force is connected to Selen/Sooha, so she always did her darndest to lend them even more of her power to stop their deaths (this is from The Blood Altar).

They overcome the daylight thing symbolically in Tamed-Dashed and that is probably related to them being something more than vampires in reality. They aren’t dead (that we know of), they were reincarnated into beings that could live long enough to meet Selen (Sooha) again when she reincarnated, so I think they were turned to vampires to achieve that (but i don’t think this has been confirmed, we just know they were sent to the future and their powers were powers they had even before being vampires).

I don’t know much about the cold blood or warm blood, but in the webtoon, they do have blood! In the Children of Vamfield Chapter 1, they drink from each other the first time they do and actually discover their bloodlust after Jakah (Jungwon) bleeds.

I also don’t know about other species, but the lore is very, very wolf heavy lol. Their god is a wolf, a bunch of the tribes in the kingdom are descendants of the sons of this god (this also includes the &Team lore, because Khan (K) is from the main Vargr lineage), and the ceremonies are all related to that. The fact that they turn into creatures resembling vampires (because they do point differences between themselves and other vampires) is still not very explored upon.
