Interesting song, I liked the visuals of the music video, there were some cool edits with Jeon Somi, time to listen to her 2nd mini album (which is titled Chaotic and Confused).
I feel like this title track will be too empty/less Somi-focused/centered more on instrumentals, and so it’s like a producer track featuring Somi.
Hopefully the other songs in the mini album are different from it, cuz I can see fellow Jeon Somi/I.O.I/etc. fans wishing for a more regular lead single/comeback/etc. especially since she rarely gets them with TheBlackLabel and so on.
CronoDroid on
That was pretty cool, reminds me of 90s era ambient electro with some of Somi’s pop style. Kinda chillout but energetic at the same time. Her version of INVU.

The AI at 2:30 (and throughout) is horrific. It’s only gonna get worse isn’t it.
Anyway, I like the Sean Kingston interpolation, though I wish she didn’t also copy the verse melody.

it’s not bad but it’s very uninspired

Honestly I’m kind of shook?!
I expected the whole song to be like the chorus, but the change-up is so good!
It’s banger for me, will definitely be on repeat.

Not a fan of the Beautiful Girls sample tbh (mostly because I already don’t like the original song). The original parts of the song sound good and I think there’s a great dark electronic track hidden under all these, I just wish TBL leaned into that abit more.
SweetLou_ on
It feels like some kind of mash-up of remixes honestly. It lacks.. identity? I don’t know. Somi looking majestic though
dokdodokdo on
I’m a big Somi supporter and I loved EXTRA but this is so disappointing. The song feels empty (and completely english?), the mv is full of AI, under 3 minutes (nobody is surprised). Yeah the Sean Kingston interpolation is catchy and I like turning it into an EDM track but this feels so low effort…
Loud-Conference-990 on
wait idk how to feel about this one, extra was really good, much better, the mv shook me in the beginning, i was like, “what a visuals!!” but it felt weird the end the of the song….the AI in the end doesn’t look good
i think they have trying to be more creative but execution doesn’t work for me this time, first half was good but not sure about chorus and rest
aardbeer on
I want to support Somi, I always have. Fast Forward was that BOP. Even Dumb Dumb was better even though it got hate during the time aswell. But this isn’t it. what’s going on here? Excessive use of AI, using a sample (which is fine by itself) and following up with a weird ass chorus. I’d be fine with the AI is the song was good. But both are.. ugh.. I feel bad for her.
Miserable-Elephant-3 on
I’m a pretty big sucker for this kind of chilly melancholic almost trip hop dancefloor cut and if Somi is going to go anywhere playing the dancefloor diva is probably the best option fast forward is still her best song. The beautiful girls sample was kinda jarring at first but it actually kinda works in a full circle moment thing (like wasn’t beautiful girls just a pop reggae version of stand by me to begin with) but I could do without the few annoying yelling bits. And that ai part was straight terrifying good to know the robots aren’t taking our jobs just yet.

Why is this MV so terrifying 😭 who directed this?
airneanach on
In theory this song should work but something about it just doesn’t. All feels a bit disingenuous/insincere and that’s not even beginning to touch on the MV. Somi deserves better honestly

This is okay. I thought the breakdown was good but the rest of the song was a bit underwhelming.

I thought Closer was a b side and Chaotic & Confused was the title track before seeing this. C&C is one of her best tracks, perhaps surpassing fast forward for me. Nothing else from the album really stood out to me

Love Somi, but not sure this one will make the cut for me. I like about two-thirds of the song.
Surely there was a better choice than the electronic interference (or whatever you want to call it) “beautiful girl” and shout chorus?
I’m curious how this and “Extra” fit together on the album.
MV doesn’t make sense to me with the song.
CuntyCarrot on
Sounds like one of the many generic radio songs that were produced in 5mins in the studio’s bathroom
And I loved Extra so much so this is super disappointing
Lancelot_123 on
The initial bits of ai were disappointing since the video still seemed very good. Song isn’t anything special. I like extra way more. The full blown slop that seemed to have no care taken at the end was a slap in the face.

Honestly, I like it. It’s too short, the song is begging for a big drop!! But I love this dancefloor EDM vibe that Somi is pursuing, I think it really suits her. I really, really like the concept for both this and Extra. It’s very unique, haunting, a little horror-y, and the bland beige colors actually kind of work for me because Somi’s blonde hair and dark makeup stand out so much against the background.
Definitely interested to see the choreo during the empty chorus, I hope it elevates the song. There were only a couple AI shots that I found jarring, some of it was pretty cool, imo. While I don’t like AI, it’s not going away in Kpop, Koreans love and embrace it, so, what can you do?
As for those saying “poor Somi” … I’m reminding you again that she is deeply involved in the creative process for her music, which is why she left JYP. This is what she wants to do.
GetsuI-DLE on
I’m sorry but as an EDM lover, this was a complete waste of potential. It sounds like someone made a club remix of the sample and didn’t know how to do the rest of the song, so they just did whatever. As a result the instrumental feels plain and basic. It really sucks because I actually like the chorus when she first spoiled it.
No offence but if Teddy wants to continue producing for Somi, he should at least collab with or learn from producers like Diplo, Kygo, Jonas Blue, etc. cause his talent is on the decline. I need prime Somi back
FlimsyTie9109 on
ngl i was expecting something more for this comeback after all this time and all the thing about fans saying to her they hate The Black Label etc. I don’t know how to say it, but it’s the fact that they almost simply used the original song most of the part and not only sampled it make it seems like some cheap remix. And the AI… to me, the only thing that save it was Somi visuals and charisma in the MV.
More-A1d165951O3 on
I feel flat.. The song is a remix, the music video feels disconnected. The song feels lazy and this song is after how many years? I really like Somi as a person but the theblacklabel is so lame
grapebento on
She looks absolutely gorg but this wasn’t it… TBL is wasting her talents!! They came up with this after locking her in the dungeon? Justice for Somi 🥲🥲

After all this time of almost no content with substance, how did she watch this back and be like “yes, we have completed this project”. Like how does she not feel guilty..? Her entire solo career has been random pockets of sporadic releases of the bare minimum pop garbage for the last ten years

I was into it until the chanty shouty post chorus… Somi is kpop’s biggest wasted potential

she said something about this album marking a new era for her…. but the title track is mostly just an interpolation of beautiful girls by sean kingston…. sigh

I like this better than ‘Extra’ just genre-wise, this is closer (lol) to Somi’s earlier sound which I really love – ‘What You Waiting For’, ‘The Way’, ‘Fast Forward’… ‘Extra’ was really gloomy and unenergetic, while this track is more bright and cheery. Somi looks gorgeous as always, but some bits of this MV looked pretty rough (the AI in 2:21 was really ugh to me, not to count other animations as well). In any case, I hope the b-sides will be better, I always like them the best in any of Somi’s EPs in comparison to her titles

um… the chorus is the only good part of the song… the video is trying to give adéla sponsored by photify ai 🥴.

I really wish they pushed more with the psychological horror concept, it could’ve been much more impactful given the vibe they were going for. The song definitely got me dancing and is for the clubs, the bass is fire!

Giving 2010s melodic tech. Sounds like something you’d hear at Ultra festival. The music video is kind of disturbing? Echo the thoughts about AI but it seems it’s been a bit inspired by ex_machina or something without the warmth of the cinematography.
Bit_Goth on
They should have built her album around Extra. Extra is the best song she has ever released IMO. I’ve never really liked her EDM style tracks and they’re garbage live. Like how could she ever possibly sing this chorus live lol? I don’t mind the visuals in the m/v but the song itself has no identity, besides what was stolen from Sean Kingston.
