  1. Love love love all the variety and more low key sound as compared to their more recent releases. I have to say Mess is my absolute favorite but In My Head and Ghost are also putting up an excellent fight. I’ll have to go back for a second listen, obviously, but interestingly, Bleep and Creed grabbed my attention least so far.

Mess and ghost have been stand outs for me so far after the first listen maybe it will change over time but I liked those both the most

  3. This is one of the best Stray Kids albums I’ve heard in a very long time. The title track was one of the songs ever made, but the rest of the album is extremely good.

  4. Ohhh, kinda wish the festival version of Ceremony was the regular version they’ll promote haha

On first listen my favourites are In My Head (giving Avril Lavigne vibes if that makes sense lol), Mess and Halftime which I didn’t have high expectations for but ended up a super fun listen! Absolute winner is Phoenix!

  5. This is a stand out album of theirs. This is a legacy album.

I thought Dominate and Rockstar were okay but they felt a bit lost and like they were being something else. There are some boy groups that do this sort of chaotic sound too but skz found what makes them unique when they do it with this. At their best that passion can be felt in all of their songs. It feels youthful and passionate. Something you can only capture when you genuinely like what you are making.

This feels like skz. It’s not even a specific sound but the whole energy of it. It’s aggressive, playful, and sharp. The vocals are so clear without feeling too processed. I haven’t even put my good headphones on for it but the processing on this is just chefs kiss.

My standouts are Ceremony, Bleep, Halftime, Ghost, Creed, 0801 and In My Head.Mess and Phoenix are great as well and I think will end up on the same level with more listens.

As someone who likes listening to albums all the way through, I yap about cohesiveness a lot, and I absolutely loved how well all the songs fit and flowed with each other for this album.

The b-sides really shined for me. Mess, In My Head, and Phoenix were the early standouts. Mess reminded me of some of my favorite SKZ songs (specifically from their Japanese discography and SKZ-Records), and I am really looking forward to seeing the lyric translation. I always love when SKZ leans into the 00s punk vibe, so In My Head is an absolute treat. And I want to blast Phoenix on a road trip, there’s just a peaceful, uplifting vibe I love about it.

Writing my thoughts as I listen for the 2nd time!

Bleep:I loooove how they utilized Felix’s deep voice here. My favorite part is Changbin’s dissonance in the second verse! This song feels the most traditionally skz to me and it’s just reallt bad fun.

Ceremony: Definitely overwhelming at first listen. It’s probably my least favorite track on the album, but it’s already growing on me. I’m happy they went more experimental on this song. The outro is great but I wish the song was longer.

Creed: The first thing I noticed was how low this song is! Usually skz only utilizes Felix’s deep voice and occasionally hyunjin or changbin, while eveyone else sings higher. It was different for me but I liked it. I really like the general vibe of this song.

Mess: The first thing I noticed in this song was the purposeful autotune effect. Considering that most of Han’s solo songs from 2020-2022 (Wish you back, Happy, Close, Alien) use this effect, it makes sense. This song is very reminiscent of his older writing style. I don’t hate it, but it was odd at first hearing with the whole group. Solid song.

In my Head: The moment this song started I was hit by a feeling of nostalgia. It reminds me of what I used to listen to when I was younger. It’s super different to what skz usually does! I also like the lyrics but maybe I relate too hard. Seungmins adlibs at the end are the best part. I love when they let him go off.

Half Time: The choppy prechorus + the choppy instrumentals are the star off this song. Honestly I don’t have much to say about this song except it’s solid and I love the instrumentals. It reminds me of blind spot.

Phoenix: My absolute favorite so far. I love the soft EDM. The lyrics and just general vibes of this song makes me feel emotional so that may be part of it too. The oh ey ohs are so smooth and soothing! Also I will never get over this originally being the kkulchong song (look it up on YouTube, its an experience)

Ghost: Absolutely not what I was expecting from a song named Ghost, but not bad necessarily. Love the Lonely St. reference. This songs pretty middling to me, especially after Pheonix, but I think it’ll grow on me. I do like the lyrics though (english, idk korean).

0801: Another fan song to the list! And this one is probably my favorite out of all the fan songs. The intro was very 1989 (Taylors Version) core, which is not something I thought I’d ever say about Stray Kids. Sorta reminds me of The View. Some people may think it’s cringy, but these songs can be really helpful for people.

    Ceremony (Festival Ver.): A bop

  8. Tiny_Wolf7667 on

It’s always so satisfying seeing their credits. 3Racha + Versachoi are an elite combo

  9. Desperate-Region4981 on

After the first track runs they have in Noeasy (Cheese – Domino) and 5 star (Hall of fame – Topline) Karma didn’t feel as heavy, but still really good, the ones I like the most first listen are Bleep, Phoenix, In my head, 0801! now it’s time to have it on repeat

  10. As much as I adore the guys, this album is… a mess, lmao. It’s barely musically cohesive, and absolutely no song stands out. There is no obvious musical identity to this project. It’s very incredibly mid, not something you’d expect from seasoned artists like Stray Kids… This one’s a miss, I’m afraid.

  11. Since the mashup dropped I’ve always known that Phoenix and Ghost were going to be my favorites

  12. the album is great!!! my favorites are: bleep, creed, phoenix and 0801. 0801 was totally impressive, it sounds like no other song they’ve done and I really like that sound.

  13. ParanoidAndroids on

    It’s an interesting first listen.

The album takes quite the left turn at MESS, and then keeps you guessing with the direction it’s going with each song after.

I like most of what’s on offer here, but I’m not sure it all works together yet. One of the biggest outliers (Phoenix) is probably my standout b-side, but as a collection it feels uneven. It almost seems like you could make 2 solid mini albums from these songs. I’ll need a few more listens.

  14. TheChosenBlacksmith on

This is something I’ve noticed across their albums is that it feels, at certain times, very soundboard-y. The beginning of some songs always feels like that.

I liked how they used Felix’s voice in Bleep, but in other songs, unfortunately, there was no innovation.

This is a much better album than their previous ones, but I feel they can do better.

I’d say Mess is the standout, along with Bleep.

  15. SkullNightshade on

Definitely prefer the b-sides more. The chorus in the title felt a little lacking to me and felt more like a b-side. But definitely would get some iconic lines from this lol. Come to think of it i didn’t like walking on water either but bounce back was a banger. The songs i liked best were in my head, ghost and 0801.
    Anyway slide bungee kiss mwah~
