Letter from Namjoon 🙁 🫂
I feel like this whole letter has a sad tone 🙁

🥺 I’d been secretly hoping for a Namjoon letter for a while and here it is! After Hobi’s post yesterday I was just thinking – how are they doing? I wonder how they’re going through this time all together? It seems like this time is so meaningful to them and full of potential.
Now to wait for translations…

namjoon wrote us another long letter ❤️🩹
gonna wait for apagos to translate but from what i can understand, he’s in a reflective mood today, about life after being discharged, about being together with the members again in LA (he describes it as something like ‘BV in pyeongchang’, a somewhat strange experience), and about BTS as a group and what this next album is gonna be like. but as always, he misses us, and promises us that we will meet soon and he’s doing his very best. he also never forgets to add that he loves us at the end of his letters 🥺

It’s really warm in LA tonight, hopefully he’s doing well. The letter sounded a bit bittersweet but I’m gonna wait for translations. I hope they’re having a good time here and having fun recording 🥺💜

does anyone else remember that one interview where namjoon said he has always been a poet first and a musician/songwriter second? that interview is my roman empire.
namjoon is SUCH a skilled wordsmith. like even the unreliable auto translation is absolutely GORGEOUS, i’m sitting here cheesing like crazy.

Weverse trans is so bad this time 😅 He sounds… reflective, and something else I can’t put my finger on until a more concrete translation

How do we even reply when he’s being so pensive? Just writing back that we miss him and love him feels like it’s not enough when he’s being this deep and reflective with his words.

I will wait for the translation, but this letter has a reflective and reminiscent vibe. He is an incredibly thoughtful person. He articulates so amazingly and with such grace that he so easily captives people. Our gorgeous, talented, God of destruction, cutie patootie, sexy brain Namjoon, we love you too!

That feeling of detachment is common for people still dealing with the aftermath of a traumatic experience, which in his case would be his time in the military. I hope he is able to heal over time and be in a healthier mental state. Not that he sounds super depressed, it’s just my take on the letter. My heat goes out to him.

Welcome to your 30s, Namjoon, where you often think about life and your place in the world now that you’re not as young as you were in your 20s, yet still not old to be considered middle-aged. The “expectations vs. reality” is something that affects me as a 30-something adult, the question of who I really am and if I’m truly happy to have this life now as opposed to all the things I thought I would be/would have by now.
I enjoy reading his letters because of his honesty. That part about him saying he’s not really happy or sad, but just living and working day by day, is so relatable. It’ll take some time for him to get back to how he was pre-enlistment, or maybe he’s moving towards the discovery of a new piece of himself that he didn’t know before.
His words about Bangtan have a certain sense of wonder and fondness. He said their team is changing and not a “fixed entity” and while he’s not certain what Bangtan is right now as they’re all each a different colour, he’s still very dedicated in being part of that team and creating music together. His gratefulness and pride in BTS is so lovely to read.
They’re still on a journey together. And part of that journey is seeing each other in a new light and realizing that there’s more to BTS than even the past 12+ years they’ve known each other. It’s quite a privilege to have the same group of people in your life for that long. A lot of friendships fall apart for many reasons, and sometimes no reason at all. That Namjoon wants to continue to belong to BTS and see what they can create together again is amazing.
I hope, in time, that he will heal completely, and that he and BTS will always be happy and fulfilled.
