Might be unpopular opinion but I’m enjoying 5th gen boy groups more than 4th, I feel like there’s such a diversity of sound and there’s more embrace of melodies and bright concepts in place of the more maximalist production/noise pop common in 4th gen (I still LOVE a lot of 4th gen groups including those who do noise pop well).
But like, no one else sounds like ZB1, but also Riize has a distinct sound, BoyNextDoor definitely is unique, TWS has their own sound different from those groups, same with NCT Wish. EVNNE have switched up their sound/experimented but never in a way that felt like they are just hopping on whatever’s trending. CORTIS, based on their first two songs are in their own lane too. It’s so much better than in like 2017/2018 when after BTS released Blood, Sweat & Tears (an all-time BANGER), then it seemed like every boy group was using trap beats or tropical house following its success.
I feel really positive about boy group music again!!!

i looooove it. such a fun smooth bop. the choreo looks fun too. we can always count on zb1 to give us a bridge!!!! i like that the production isn’t as blended so you can hear their full vocals and tell who’s singing. taerae’s adlibs at the end!!!

Now this *is* indeed very iconic. Zerobaseone is one of those groups that I have a lot of affection for, but can be hit or miss for my tastes—but my god when they hit they hit like no other. Seriously, this feels like them at their peak, it’s so quintessentially *Zerobaseone*. It’s like all of their best songs got together and created a gloriously funky child and I am so very chuffed about it.
Suffice it to say I’m excited to listen to the rest of this album!
