  1. # The Shoes Rosé Wore Until They Were Worn Out? Why Rosé and PUMA Were Meant to Meet

**An exclusive behind-the-scenes story of the PUMA × ROSÉ collection, shared only with ELLE by Rosé herself!**

Rosé always appears to stand on a boundary. She shows the delicate gestures of a young girl while maintaining the curious gaze of a boy—and yet, on stage, she is nothing short of powerful. The collaborative collection between PUMA and Rosé clearly reveals the more intimate, off-stage side of her.

Rosé describes it as “a collection made up of choices that are most true to myself.” Her sincere voice reflects more than just a business project—it contains the honest time of an artist deeply confronting her true self.

The PUMA × ROSÉ capsule collection consists of 10 items in total. From sneakers reinterpreting PUMA’s iconic Speedcat through Rosé’s eyes, to sporty mesh tops, mini skirts, and sweatshirts emblazoned with “ROSIE,” her childhood preferences are delicately embedded throughout.

Now approaching her 10th debut anniversary, Rosé asks herself again: “Where am I running toward?” This collaboration is her response to that endless question.

In this exclusive interview with *ELLE*, Rosé begins writing the first page of her PUMA story with honesty and fearless language.

**The moment I saw the collection, I thought: “This is so Rosé.” In the behind-the-scenes video, you were seen tying ribbons and actively sharing ideas. What design points did you focus on during the process?**

Because my name is attached to this project, I wanted to choose things that felt most “me.” I wanted to create something that truly resembled who I am. Through repeated experimentation, I learned more about my own tastes, too. There are certainly parts that may be a little rough since this is my first collaborative collection, but ultimately, I think the result is a sum of the most Rosé-like choices.

**Do you have a favorite item from the collection?**

The sweatshirt and mini skirt! Some might think they’re too simple, but the moment I received the sweatshirt sample, I felt the fit was just perfect. The texture of the fabric was also really nice—it instantly made me happy. I thought, “Ah, *this* is the charm of a collaboration” (laughs).

**If you imagine yourself wearing this collection, what kind of image comes to mind?**

I picture myself after a performance, changing clothes and heading out to eat with friends. Or maybe throwing something on casually on the way to work, then changing again after the day’s done—something comfortable but still stylish. When I come off stage, I don’t want to give up either comfort or style. I also spend a lot of time thinking about my rehearsal outfits. I try to strike a balance—something that doesn’t feel overdone but still looks good on camera.

**This collection supposedly includes both the “on-stage” and “off-stage” Rosé. What is Rosé like off stage?**

I do love fancy clothes, but I can never compromise on comfort. Since I travel a lot, it’s important for me to balance style and practicality. So I’m drawn to pieces that are comfortable, but don’t *look* like they’re only for comfort. I think that’s also why this collection represents that balance.

**BLACKPINK’s 10th anniversary is coming up next year. Looking back on your journey so far, what do you think you’ve been chasing?**

In the past, I think I was chasing just one thing endlessly. But lately, it’s been different. I’ve been spending a lot of time asking myself, “Where am I really going?” It’s hard to give a clear answer because I feel like I’m at a kind of turning point. Was that too abstract? (laughs)

  2. **Not at all. It’s a process everyone needs to go through.**

Exactly. When I was younger, I thought I knew everything for sure. I had this belief that “this is the right answer.” But eventually, I realized that what I knew wasn’t the only answer. So these days, I’m trying to approach things with a learner’s mindset—gaining experiences and organizing my thoughts through them.

**Like PUMA’s Speedcat Ballet, Rosé seems to embody both speed and delicate emotion. Which side do you think is closer to who you are?**

Thank you for putting it that way! Honestly, I think I’m exactly that combination. It’s hard to choose just one, but I definitely have a boyish side inside my femininity. I think my true self lies somewhere in between. So yes, I guess you could say the Speedcat Ballet perfectly captures who I am.

**The green grass backdrop of the campaign felt reminiscent of your early debut days. What kind of shoes did you like as a child?**

That question reminded me instantly—there was a pair of flat shoes I absolutely loved when I was little. I wore them until they were completely worn out. Looking back, they were both pretty and comfortable, so I think that’s why I was obsessed with them. Flats were really trendy then, and I used to wear them every day with jeans.

**It really does seem like you were destined to work with PUMA. If given the chance for another collaboration, what would you like to create next?**

Honestly, it’s hard to say right now. I tend to follow inspiration in the moment, so even if I plan something in advance, it often changes when the time comes. During the actual workshops, I got a lot of ideas just from touching the fabrics and talking with the PUMA team. It was a great learning experience—not just about myself, but about so many things.

**You seem like an artist with a spark of instinctive creativity. When and how do you usually get inspired?**

Right then and there—in the moment. For example, when a photographer takes the first shot, I instantly know: “This is the pose.” That spontaneity always drives me. I think this collaboration worked because the PUMA team was really receptive to the textures and ideas I felt in the moment. I’m truly grateful for that.

**If you could share a unique styling tip for incorporating the PUMA collection into daily looks, what would it be?**

Above all, this collection focused on *comfort*. I believe comfort is the most important part of fashion. Whether it’s fit or color, comfort always comes first for me. The collection features basic colors that blend well with any outfit, so I recommend layering them into your existing wardrobe. Lately, I’ve been into pencil skirts, and I love pairing them with sweatshirts from the collection. Each item is subtle yet blends effortlessly into everyday wear, so I hope everyone can add their own touch and make it their own.

**That’s such a “style master” answer. Your fashion always garners attention globally. How does it feel when that happens?**

It feels amazing! I feel shy, grateful, and empowered all at the same time. When I was younger, I used to think, “I’m always right,” but then there were times I lost confidence. So when people praise my fashion, I feel genuinely thankful—like, “Thank you for seeing me that way!”

**What do you hope fans will discover about you through this collection?**

Since I really tried to pour my true self into this collection, I hope people can feel, “Ah, this is what it’s like when Rosé starts something new.” This was my first real collaborative collection, so it felt unfamiliar and nerve-wracking—but I’d love it if people saw it as the beginning of a new journey for me.

**The campaign with the green lawn in the background overlapped with the fresh appearance at the beginning of the debut. What kind of shoes did you like when you were young?**
It came to my mind when I heard the question, but there was a flat shoe that I really liked when I was young. It was enough to wear it until it was worn out. Now that I think about it, it’s pretty and comfortable, so I think I wore it as if I was obsessed. At that time, flat shoes were popular, so I used to match it with jeans every day.

**I guess the meeting with Puma was fate. If the next collaboration opportunity comes, what would you like to make?**
To be honest, it’s hard to say anything right now. I tend to follow the inspiration of the moment, so even if I think of something in advance, it will change again when the time comes. I felt a lot of ideas blooming immediately while touching the fabric in the actual workshop and communicating with the Puma team. Of course, it was a beneficial time to learn a lot about me.

**Rosé seems to be an artist who flashes his senses the more he looks at it. When and how do you usually get inspiration?**
At that moment, on the spot. For example, when a photographer takes the first cut, he immediately feels like, ‘Ah, this pose’. Every time that moment of improvisation moves me. I think this collaboration was also possible because the Puma team accepted the texture and imagination of the material that I felt momentarily. It’s really grateful.
