Why don’t they prepare these groups for the lack of kpop camera angles and cuts?

If it’s GMA, wouldn’t the date be 12 and not 13?

They really need backup dancers, and the song is so bad they should have performed whiplash instead and what the fuck is sm doing they are literally sabotaging them with this type of performance in the us

I don’t like when kpop groups perform english versions of their song on american shows, the original is almost always better

I real think groups do themselves a disservice by performing english versions in the US. At least when you don’t understand the lyrics, there’s a chance they aren’t cringe.

These morning show stages only work if your company negotiates to make you look as good as possible.
You have to insist on setting up an outdoor stage, have a live band, and invite a group of fans to make hype. This is why the BTS, Jungkook and Twice stages have been great despite the abysmal camerawork. Of course, this requires higher resources and more staff, so if you aren’t willing to spend the money you get this unfortunately. Also, you can’t lip sync on US tv…it’s way too noticeable in broad daylight.
Edit- plus the artists have to be great live performers too

Yeah this is bad… I mean the song isn’t great to begin with but the choreo also isn’t giving much without the backup dancers. Also kind of embarrassing their mics are set to like, 10% mix with the back track when the song is not vocally challenging and neither is the choreo.
I love Aespa but they could’ve skipped this😭

when will SM stop chasing the western success dream? they don’t want to follow trends with their groups music like HYBE does that’s clear, and there’s nothing wrong with not wanting to follow trends but sending them to these daytime tv shows where the target demographic isn’t even watching won’t do anything for the group.
love the aespa girlies but this performance was not it.. lipsyncing, bad choreo and lack of stage presence/energy, this level of performance only works in korea with heavy reliance on camerawork.

The thing about K-pop is that the whole presentation itself is carefully curated from the stage to the camera angle etc… When you throw them to these US in-studio performances, it looks extremely plain like some talent show although Aespa are already giving their usual high standard

This all could’ve been avoided if SM capitalized on their success last year instead of sending them with this weak ass song. What a huge fumble. Not surprising from SM tho.
Which-Replacement-59 on
The dancers are a part of the choreo. Without them the choreo doesnt make sense 🥲 SM seriously should do a better job and bring them with the girls.
Edit: gotta appreciate Giselle’s facecard. She’s on fire today!!

Why do K-pop companies always send their groups to GMA? Like not one of these performances was ever great and I don‘t think it does anything good for them. Either book them a proper stage in the US that could actually get them some exposure or don‘t send them there at all. These super basic cheap stages do more harm than well imo.

This is horribly choreographed, the camera work isn’t even that bad all things considered it’s just really highlighting the flaws present.
Like this was clearly choreographed to be performed with back up dancers, there’s so much awkward space between them at points and the solo sections just don’t work here without the back up dancers.
Like I get that visas are expensive but why even go on these sort of programs if you’re going to half ass it by, pretty obviously, not including a vital part of the choreography?
Furthermore why isn’t there a ot4 version of the choreo prearranged for when they don’t have access to back up dancers? It just feels like it’s setting them up for ridicule. Even the idols with the best stage presence can’t make standing off to the side by themselves not look awkward.
Even a bit of better communication with the camera man could’ve helped, there’s clearly bits where they are zooming out to keep them all in frame and yet they’re jsut going off to the side to stand there.

To be honest, I don’t think any GMA k-pop performance has looked good. They just aren’t well suited for each other.

They’re just not good enough to put on a show without a million backup dancers, SM set them up hard here and I feel for bad for them for it.

wow the camera work is terrible, they did them dirty. when you can see the others just standing there waiting for the time to go in…. was nobody thinking?

this just made me realize how much aespa relies on camerawork and backup dancers to make their performances look good. almost six years in and they still haven’t managed to own the stage as individuals and as a group.
