It’s good that somebody posted this here because there’s something I want to talk about. Many articles were released today about this interview, but one in particular is making the rounds in Twitter right now and is causing a lot of confusion because the person who posted it refused to take it down. Basically, out of all the articles about this interview, there was one which included a supposed quote from Kyungsoo that wasn’t featured in the others. It said something like “I believe we’ll be able to do it as a full group, starting with the next album”.
The problem here is that the writer of the article is notorious for adding stuff that the subject didn’t really say just to stir some drama (many of the questionable or problematic articles they’ve written in the past have already been taken down). It’s suspicious that something as important or as controversial as that quote would be excluded from ALL the other articles if Kyungsoo really mentioned it in the interview, so I’m inclined to believe that the writer just added it there just for clicks. Now, a lot of CBX-biased and OT9ers are suddenly singing Kyungsoo praises even if they were badmouthing him just minutes ago. Some even accused him of playing with their feelings and promised to make him pay if the full group reunion and album do not cme into fruition in the near future. Many were also thanking Kyungsoo for speaking up while dragging Junmyeon’s leadership in the same breath. It’s messy.
Even if a lot of people have already asked the person who tweeted about it to take down the post to avoid further confusion, they still refused to do so (probably because it’s been getting a lot of engagement). And when other fans tried to clarify the issue and asked the others to take it with a grain of salt, many CBX-biased – particularly BBHLs, went on the defensive and accused other fans of being SM lapdogs. They claimed that the one article is true (even if it’s the only one with a negative reputation) and that all of the others were paid by SM to exclude the quote – which doesn’t make sense because the interview was primarily about The Manipulated and EXO was just one of the side topics mentioned because it was related to Kyungsoo. They’ve already convinced themselves to stick with that narrative and now Kyungsoo’s the one getting a lot of heat from both sides of this neverending fanwar. It’s exhausting.
