I hope he’s just stepping down temporarily, it’d be such a bummer to have his career ruined because someone conned people
Sussana58 on
Can someone explain this to me as if I’m five? I read the article, but are they like drug allegations or did he and the comedian recommended drugs use? What is the concern about?
bimpossibIe on
He’s a victim too and it’s a shame that he needed to give up some jobs just because he was deceived by that injection auntie.
With Key and Narae out, I wonder what’s gonna happen to Nolto.

I feel really, really bad for him.

Am I ignorant about something? It sounds like he was a victim of medical malpractice and he’s apologizing for what? Not like checking this referred doctor’s medical credentials?
I hope he’s okay. If he didn’t know, this must feel like such a tremendous and frightening violation… I can’t even imagine.
Edit: Damn yeah, I was ignorant of something. South Korea doesn’t have a home healthcare system, so any home visits from a doctor (fake or not) is illegal.

Why does he have to step down because someone else was a fraud?
This is really ridiculous.
Edit: What is going on under here???
To those who thought I was genuinely asking, I wasn’t. But thank you anyway for explaining, because someone else might not get what’s going on. I completely understand the implications of why he would have to step down. I was just expressing frustration.

Ugh, heartbroken about this, especially after seeing him just last week for the first time ever. Hoping he takes some time to himself and makes a strong comeback soon!

If this stupid thing ruins SHINee’s careers, I may just leave kpop for good. Getting treatment from a fraudulent doctor while there are idols out there who are literal Nazis getting off scot free?

It makes me so sad that his tour concluded with this… I hope he returns to his programs when he is ready and gets a lot of rest in the meantime.
Also, I don’t really understand why he is getting punished when she is the one that falsified education documents and lied about being licensed…

Okay, I might just be missing some context, but I genuinely don’t get this. I’m usually able to at least understand that certain cultural norms exist in Korea to explain certain scandals, but for this…why would he need to apologize for seemingly being duped by a fake doctor?
Like is this more of a “sorry for causing concern” apology than a “sorry I did this” apology? Is something being lost in translation? I’m legit confused here.

Typical SM for you, making the victim apologize and lose out on opportunities just to appease antis. I’m soooooo over it…

Ok but can someone explain to me why he’s apologizing??? If he was deceived by someone who was parading around as a medical practitioner…how is it his fault?
Edit- also would be great if someone can provide more info on the injection auntie thing. The article is not that explanatory
Edit 2- If this injection auntie has been going around practicing illegally I’d be more concerned about the health implications of all her patients. People should worry about that.

maybe i don’t understand the full context, but why is he apologizing.. isn’t he a victim too? it seems he’s as confused as everyone else about the situation.

What is the allegation exactly? That he was going to a scam doctor? Was he promoting her or something?

Well I won’t be thinking on this for another minute and hope Key just enjoys a staycation before resuming his usual life.

Yeah if Keys Career is over as a result of this, I’ll be done with Kpop entirely
Kmadd25 on
I really hope he’s not permanently stepping down and that this is a temporary pause until these issues are more resolved, because nothing I’ve read about this situation indicates that Key should take any blame. Normal people don’t even think about checking whether or not a doctor has the correct credentials; it’s so odd that this is something he’s having to apologize for.

I don’t get this whole scandal. Why are idols stepping down and apologizing for this when it’s the fake doctors fault, not theirs because they thought it was a real doctor/physician. I’m just so ???.
I feel bad for the idols involved. They were deceived so badly and were treated for their things.
Edit: Reddit isn’t letting me reply to the person saying how private visits are illegal but thank you for that information

It’s really not SM, it’s literally what Korea expects. I just ranted to my Korean coworker (I live and work in Korea) and she simply said- Koreans do not like when celebrities think they are above the law. It’s illegal to have a doctor give private services at houses. Even if the doctor is wrong, he is wrong for even having the doctor come to his house. I argued about the fact that it’s unfair that Koreans expect celebrities to live exactly like every day people, of course they would want privacy. But it didn’t matter, if it’s illegal, it’s illegal, and that’s just how black and white things can be here.

Everyone in the comments is missing the point. In South Korea, administering IV fluids outside of a licensed medical facility is illegal. Key and Park Narae invited the so-called “Injection Lady” to their own premises to receive medical treatment, which already constitutes a violation. Even if she were a licensed doctor or nurse, providing any medical treatment as such in that setting is still illegal. Every passing day, more news have been released about how shady this lady is, which makes it seem even worse for people associated with her. On top of that, we don’t know what other medical treatments he may have received from her without proper prescriptions.
That’s why he’s apologizing, and that’s why he’s stepping down from all programs.

>Recognizing the gravity of this matter, Key has decided to withdraw from his currently scheduled activities and step down from the programs in which he is appearing.
Stepping down from the programs’ is underselling it, since it looks like he’s going on full hiatus

Anger. That’s all I feel. Pure anger. Key better come out of this unscathed or I’m done with kpop. Just.. no. Hell no.
