  1. ON A RANDOM THURSDAY IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HOUR…………

NOTHING AT ALL TO TWO ANNOUNCEMENTS IN A WEEK. MY LUNGS KIND OF FROZEN. THE ZB1 OT9 FAMILY IS SPLIT IN TWO 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

This is probably the best case scenario for both groups in terms of being able to follow both and name recognition… but honestly it is going to break my Zerose heart if each group cant mention one another/interact anymore once YH New Boygroup debuts similar to how it’s felt with IZ*ONE on different paths…

  2. This was unexpected for me. I really did think ZB5 was a pipe dream, but I’m looking forward to what they have in store and how their branding will work.

  3. What a bittersweet ending/beginning!!! Excited for the next chapter for all the members!!!😭🫶💖

  4. crying sobbing AND throwing up.

I’m so happy they were able to come to an agreement with Jiwoong and Hanbin’s agencies as well and to work together. I think they are so much better together rather than apart but I’m going to miss Ricky, Gyuvin, Hao and Yujin with them so much.

So as expected, Yuehua took their idols back. This is probably the best outcome though. Being in an Mnet survival show group is probably the peak of most of its member’ careers (the LSF and IVE girls are an exception). It’s great that the remaining members can still continue as ZB1.

  6. That is a STACKED as fuck group, holy shit.

Zhang Hao in particular being gone makes me incredibly upset, but with these 5 I’m of the strong belief they’ll do great things. This is an insanely talented bunch.

Matthew, Hanbin and Gunwook as a trio is the most insane dance troupe I’ve seen, everyone here is a BEYOND capable singer, and they’re monsters on stage. I’m glad they’ve been able to get through negotiations with each member’s prior companies cleanly.

  7. Glad we’ll get at least some of them sticking together! Tragic to lose the Yuehua boys but will take anything we can get

  8. ChocolateeDisco on

I actually think this is the best case scenario (of course, second to them ALL staying together 😭)

  9. I feel like I was the only one who expected this outcome. I actually think a lot of agencies have realised it is hard to make money off just one of the idols post survival show group.

Their individual fans often don’t carry into the new group and the idol often fades into obscurity.

  10. i’m lowkey so happyful rn, like obviously i’m depressed that there’s no more ot9 but I think everyone knew that was not happening so this is my best case scenario. also as a jiwoong girlie, i’m so happy he’s staying with his friends <333

  11. the nine membered survival show group to five membered survival show group pipeline (fromis_9 & zb1)

  12. lavender-rosequartz on

I’m honestly okay with this. Most post-survival show groups have 2 members max that redebut together. The fact that 4 and 5 of the members respectively are able to stay together is an anomaly for sure.

  13. My daughter is both yelling in sadness about them not being 9 anymore and yelling in happiness cause Ricky is her favorite and this is probably better for him.

  14. will this be a situation where Hanbin is apart of the group but does equal solo gigs with his own company? ie like D.O.

still doing stuff for EXO when he can but has a separate solo career that has equal time

  15. i just love good news [2] ❤️

hope we get some info on the lineup of yuehuas group soon too so i can truly relax

  16. So Yuehua is making a group with everyone from both ZB1 and Evnne to complete the trinity, right? This is good news for everyone though, no disbandments.

  17. I’m so sad they’re not all able to stay together and I know at least some of the members are really sad, too, but when I’m done being bummed out, I will be happy to support them all in their future stuff, because this was a group that was honestly hard to not be ot9 about at the end of the day. They’re all so talented and sweet and I just want them to have continued work that they will all enjoy doing.

  18. Great that the group continues to live on as 5 members. Not surprising that Yuehua took the other 4 back.

  19. ugh this is so sad i literally cannot imagine them separated rn 😭😭

im sure (hoping) both groups will be successful! i hope that they are still able to interact even after the split idk if i can handle a no contact mandate

  20. I’m so happy this group is continuing in some regard (something I’m choosing to believe is that them charting in the U.S. twice with *Blue Paradise* and *NEVER SAY NEVER* had to have helped renewal become concrete). However, I’m acutely aware that some of the magic…not talent, because all the members know how to sing…some of the *magic* is going too.

I’m wondering where OT5 is going to end up musically and my curiosity is piqued.

  21. This is great news! Now all we need is Yuehua to say the YH4 + Yunseo and Sunggeon will be a 6 member group and peace will be restored in my heart. That requires the least from us- the only difference would be supporting the exact same people in the form of two groups (three including Evnne). Almost like they’re units, NCT style 😅

( Yuehua would *never* allow it but if these companies were SMART and did things fans actually would like, imagine a future cross company variety show where they all came together. I long for the days like back in third gen when companies didn’t mind letting their groups have crossover variety).

  22. Honestly, I couldn’t hope for anything better.. being split into two groups with the non-YH staying for ZB1 together is the best case scenario.. better split in two than scatter around with uncertain futures

I’m so looking forward to what they give us next

I wonder if they’re gonna re-release some of their hits with only those 5

  23. The was the best possible outcome based in reality and I can’t believe we actually got it.

While I *wish* it wasn’t W1, I’m glad Gunwook and Matthew at least get to stay in the stable position they had rather than return to their labels with a less certain future. Hanbin and Jiwoong have shared deals with the labels and W1, meaning we get more individual schedules from them both (and hopefully a Hanbin solo debut???). And best of all, Taerae isn’t left by himself after losing all his OG WakeOnez.

The 4/5 split was the realistic pipe dream. We thought it was copium but we really did get it. 😭😭😭

  24. I knew they’d do this months back. Yuehua has more to lose by not taking back their 4 members, let alone their 4 VERY popular members. And the others belong to small companies (well I saw matthew and gunwook moved to wk1) and it’d be more beneficial to continue as Zb1 than take any chances at a redebut.

It’s sad for Zeroses that they’ve lost 4 members (sobs in kep1ian with losing 2) but I hope Yuehua treats them better. For Zb1, maybe with only 5 members to focus on + negotiations it gets better. I became a very casual zerose as time went on and I wish them all the best of luck!

  25. happy for the zb5 members. they’re super talented and this is a solid five member lineup for dance vocals rap etc. however i am heartbroken at confirmation that yuehuaz are leaving and some of my favorite duos and trios will be broken up

  26. Ultimately the best decision made by all the companies involved, as much as I don’t want to praise any of them.

  27. RIP the OT9 but i’m glad with what we get

as a matthew gunwook and taerae bias i’m eating good at least

  28. whatever_rain_281 on

Somehow, an expected outcome. Hanbin and Jiwoong must have a non-exclusive contract for the group while Matthew and Gunwook’s contracts were bought out. I am especially happy for Matthew because MNH had such a bad track record and while WK1 is not the best company either they have profited from survival show lineup and ZB1 has been profitable despite WK1’s handling. I would have loved to see how Jellyfish would have handled Gunwook though but with VeriVery and Evnne their hands are probably full and a Gunwook solo would have been a risky undetaking. For Hanbin and Jiwoong I expect their labels to focus on their solo or acting. While their labels are on the smaller size, they get treated quite well. Overall, ZB5 will surely do good. They have nice vocals with Taerae and great dancers. I hope Jiwoong will be able to shine with this new chapter (WK1 did not handle him as well as they could have).

As for Yuehuaz I very much expected them to return to YH. And I am happy for Ricky because WK1 did not treat him well imo. Zhang Hao is doing pretty good for himself and has started the year pretty strong afaik, as deserved. And Yujin is quite popular and talented with amazing potential to grow. Gyuvin is an amazing empathic person that glues people together. Ricky is quite fun and I am interesting to see how much exposure he can get in YH: I hope they put them together in a group with the Yunseo and Seungeon while also enabling some solo stuff. The members had great synergy already and balance each other nicely.

I am going to miss ZB1 as we have known them but I am also looking forward to how the members will be able to grow on their path.

Well that’s pretty explicit, the group will continue as 5 and Jiwoong and Hanbin with stick with the 2-label setup unlike the members transferring to W1 exclusively. This really is a Kep1er style continuation, which is interesting because if you had asked me I’d have said they were too big to get their companies to play nice together how Kep1er could, but evidently it worked out so that’s cool. I don’t think this can tell us much about ALD1’s future though with the whole 6-year contract aspect making their case pretty different.
