I used to think the head-dropping move in the third verse of Blue Valentine held back the performance, especially since it comes right when they’re pushing those high notes. But in this Madrid show, the choreography looks way more simplified, and switching to handheld mics seems to have fixed the vocal pickup issues too.
Blue Valentine always felt a bit underwhelming live compared to their other songs (again, that’s only by NMIXX standards), but after watching this Madrid performance, this might honestly be one of the highest-quality versions I’ve seen so far.
