(This is my own analysis hehe. If there are any similarities with past posts, sorry I wasn't aware of
them hehe)
TLDR: Blue valentine shows all the girls die, paxxword had a foreshadowing for blue valentine. Blue valentine was part of their lore from the start. All their earlier songs were "teasers" of each other.
Since nmixx comeback is in a few days, i can't help but feel excited over how their lore will continue to expand. Personally, i felt like blue valentine was a stretch from their lore, but as it turns out, it makes sense.
First off, let's talk about the music video. I've studied the music video and it actually really rewinds in itself.
Kyujin was trapped in a dream-like state in the beginning, and the "flashbacks" towards the end of the mv are most likely hers. Haewon is "lost" in the street looking for something. Sullyoon is driving, ends up bleeding. In the next scene, the girls are fighting. All these scenes felt random until Jiwoo's part. Everything starts rewinding to better explain what led the girls to such a state.
In the chorus, we see the girls happy. Remember the Know About Me mv? At the end, they launched into space. Most likely, the scenes in the chorus represented their smooth launch into outer space. All of them were bonding and having the time of their lives. In the next verse, Kyujin in the car crash scene may represent the sudden crashing of their space ship ORRRRRR their "launch" into outer space (breakthrough) . You could also see her typing something in the laptop, something about forgetting the password of some sort. Bae stands in and help her, showing the message, "Love is blue." She then takes a picture of everyone, keeping a remembrance of their breakthrough. Until things go wrong in Lily's part. The spaceship may have seem to have overheated and the system began to "crash" (Haewon and Jiwoo's scene). Haewon sacrifices herself to save Jiwoo. Sullyoon's part shows debris all around them, probably from their ship tearing apart (the first chorus also has debris everywhere). Bae reveals herself and in the chorus, the girls are dancing in a body, which is frezzing up. The girls dancing probably represents fighting to stay alive in the cold outer space.
And that takes us to their reality. In the bridge, they're stuck in outer space. Some have fallen asleep, others are hopelessly afloat. And right before the last chorus, we see something like a tiny escape capsule flying. The girls are dancing, and the vibe of the scene honestly feels like a last dance. What's creepy is that all memories seem to be flashing back, like how experts say that we remember the best moments of our life right before our death. And in the last part, we see Jiwoo waking up from a trance.
Creepy details:
-the positioning of Jiwoo in the pre-chorus and bridge are strikingly similar. It is most probably foreshadowing
-in the first prechorus, jiwoo is the only one who opens her mouth in the entirety of the part. Not even kyujin opens her mouth during her lines. It gives off the vibe that jiwoo is the only one left alive, as seen in the ending where she suddenly wakes up.
-jiwoo's rap scene shows haewon saving jiwoo from colliding with the train, similar to how haewon saves her in the ending. Ive read other interpretations of this scene here in the subreddit, but hey, it's just my guess.
-going back to the first verse of blue valentine, everything would make sense. Haewon is "lost" in space, sullyoon is basically "dying," the girls are "fighting" to stay alive, while looking aimlessly. The background during their fight scene is weird, like the girls are already hallucinating.
Now, in the paxxword special video, i noticed blue hearts in one scene. Could this foreshadow "blue valentine" as the true password, hence they are now logging into each other? It's stupefying how they had already revealed their lore from the first few comebacks already. O.O turns out to really be a teaser of their journey to Mixxtopia. Dice tells the story of the girls "braving" the seas. And perhaps "love me like this" was never supposed to have a change-up because the Expergo ep really was just the first chapter of their lore. They lived happily in mixxtopia, and the change-ups oftentime appear in deeper songs (themes like strength, change, growth) like Blue Valentine, Dice, and Papillon.
Now, what's next after blue valentine and the entirety of the album ending with shape of love, the girls vowed to love each other more. "Oh, we hurt, and we cry. Sometimes, we smile. I don'tcare about the shape. Any pain i could take…" Unlike the Fe3O4 trilogy that fights against outside forces, blue valentine focuses on the friendship of the girls and embracing their vulnerabilities, hence Heavy Serenade. Maybe the girls revive? Maybe the girls are reborn? Maybe Jiwoo found a way to save everyone? I dont know, but im excited.
A lot of people say O.O Baila and Superhero shouldn't have been part of the album, but for me, it's a beautiful way of saying the two songs dont need each other to complete each other. Both can stand alone just fine, blend along just fine, and share the same title just fine. Just like the girls.
Heavy Serenade is an ultimatum mini album of the girls undying love and care for one another, with it strongly ending with Loud.
