Hello Carats! Happy Sunday! I hope everyone had a great week enjoying the comeback. Personally, I'm still so in love with the new single album!
This week, the pairing of our post is…drum roll please… 🩵 Seungcheol & Minghao 🩷.

Note: It hurts me to use official names for some members lol. I don't mind some like Woozi and Hoshi but S.Coups and The8 😭😭 but I want to make it easier to search and also want to keep in mind newer/potential fans. So I'll stick to those but only in the title and cover picture.

I feel like this duo really flies under the radar but they seem really close and hold onto each other often. I always think about the live where minghao was getting scoups to say phrases in mandarin like “I’m a little princess” and coups had no idea what he was saying. I love their photos together.

As a baby carat, I haven’t actually noticed too much of Minghao and S.Coups’ interactions yet. I’d love to see more of them, cos Minghao is my bias and I’m also really warming up to S.Coups these days. 😍
What comes to mind now is Minghao’s Weverse and Weibo livestreams featuring S.Coups. Minghao was talking about how much S.Coups loved the Maotai liquor so he got his parents to bring it over from China, and the 2 boys were enjoying the drink over dinner. They also mentioned how they always have rather serious conversations when they meet for meals – and it struck me then that they must be pretty close off-camera.
The other sweet interaction of them I remember is from Going Seventeen (Point Of Omniscient Interference Penalty episode). S.Coups was carrying Minghao from one couch to another, and Minghao’s giggles were too cute! ❤️
Oh, and also, in In The Soop, S.Coups (as well as Wonwoo) mentioned how Minghao and Jeonghan are both light-sleepers so they will allocate the single rooms to them. And S.Coups himself has had insomnia for about 2 years at that time, yet he didn’t keep the single room for himself. I love that the boys are so considerate towards one another, instead of finding it unfair.
Proof of their maturity. Go S Coups as a leader for helping make the foreigner feel at home and promoting a space for him to feel welcome and to grow.
A props to Minghao for being persistent and keeping going and enduring. And then eventually more than enduring but thriving. He’s grown into himself as an artist, developed his own style, is in to meditation and staying mentally centered and balanced. And combined some of what he’s learned from Korean music and fashion and just the overall high level he’s been at in the world with his more humble roots and created a style and life that works for him, including setting boundaries and mental health. And bringing some of that b boy into the cool cutie.
Coups may have helped make the space for him but only Minghao can actually do the work and transformation.
And let’s not diminish what Coups did, he’s always been his family’s baby boy so this wasn’t a natural and easy thing for him to do either.
You hear of other groups where members leave, especially Chinese members, and it isn’t a given that Minghao would still be with Seventeen 9 years later. But he is, and he’s thriving and looking as happy, creative, healthy and productive as ever. This pairing is why…two people who work hard and help and support and push each other and work hard for each other’s sake and inspire each other by being their best selves.
I really love this duo a lot it is seriously underrated. They have a lot of cute interactions and chemistry. I remember Minghao said somewhere that if he was a girl Scoups would be his ideal type. Scoups carrying the 8 in that GoSe episode lives in my mind rent free. Their lives are also interesting, especially that one with Shua and Jun where the 8 flirted with Coups and Coups threw him out of his own house 😂
