But I thought GD left YG as a solo artist, I’m guessing it’s Big Bang songs or his old songs.

1) man this guy can’t catch a break
2) you don’t need police to raid offices for a song plagiarism accusation, just take it to court. they’ve really been sitting on this since November?
3) why does the article not say what song/artist is accusing them of plagiarism??? if it’s a song both GD and YG worked on, that really narrows the options.
>The alleged song is from G-Dragon’s album “Shine A Light” released in 2010.
>A YG Representative responded, “We only confused the notation of two songs with the same title during the preparation process for G-Dragon’s solo concert in 2009, and there was no unauthorized duplication of the sound source.

why are the police getting involved in a copyright dispute? is that standard practice in korea?

Why does the tin foil hat I banished to the corner want me to believe that the plagiarism claim is being used so the police can get through the front door to look for files that might have something else in them and they just happen to see them when looking for copyright info?

Is this LJM administration asserting their authority over kpop industry? First Hybe now YG. SM and JYP soon?

Providing more information from a separate article: Commenters pointed out that the dispute centers on a song G-Dragon first recorded at the age of 13 in 2001, which he briefly revisited during a 2009 concert. Given that the track was never registered with the Copyright Association and was part of a live medley, netizens are calling the timing of the lawsuit — filed more than a decade later — suspicious and opportunistic.
October was GD’s comeback, and this guy launched a complaint in November after 16 years. He is either motivated by money or there is someone trying to use GD to distract from another bigger scandal.

waiting 16yrs and for cover on a live concert dvd too. lmao maybe the guy is now broke so clinging to anything to make money. also this feels like such a waste of police time; shouldn’t this be like a civil suit or something like that. then again sk police like to stunt, after they got embarassed last time i’m sure they were itching for any excuse to have a high profile case.

This is kind of a ridiculous investigation. For one thing, the song has been around for over 15 years. The original artist had that entire time to sue over it. Also… a police investigation? This is a civil lawsuit not a police problem.

Who is the accuser? This is some bullshit and imma about to go make their day.
Here starts the bad, bad, awful and unlawful(?) thing I guess.

So they raided an office for something that happened over a decade ago, when the artist in question left the label 2 years ago and the previous owner left 6 years ago.
Completely not an absolute waste of everyone’s time!
