>I’m happiest when singing and dancing. I have a noraebang mic at home, and when new songs come out I play around covering them. I just think doing music is so fun.
>Q: That’s amazing. But often when your hobby becomes work, that can be tiring, right?
>Right. But I have mentality is one where I want to keep improving. More so than stressful I think it’s a more joyful driving force. So I think it’s a good virtuous cycle.
>Q: In that case the reason you do music is because it makes you happy.
>The reason I’m doing music right now is, I just like how my mind eases and how I feel happy doing this. But now I think it would be nice if others could feel the same joy that I do.
>Q: What would you say your “error” is?
>I have so many. The biggest would be that I overthink way too much. I simulate things out too much in every situation. So then I always imagine the worst case. That leads me to getting scared before even starting whatever I’m doing.
>Q: What would you consider a positive error about yourself?
>Of the many errors I have… Repeating indefinitely. Others may say “I’m tired of that, I’m sick of it”. But if I make a mistake onstage it’ll be on my mind so much I’ll lose sleep over it. I’ll go home and try again in the bathroom, repeating parts that I didn’t do well while lying in bed. Others might feel like it’s a hassle but for me that’s practice and the way to getting it perfect.
>Q: What’s the thing you ask most often to yourself while working on music?
>Sometimes there are times where you need to be objective even when it’s difficult.
I ask often, “Is this really like me?” While doing activities I saw a comment on Youtube that said I seemed so burdened. That really felt like a smack on the head. That may hurt one’s feelings but thinking hard about it, I thought, “ah, I haven’t really absorbed everything to make this ‘mine’, I didn’t really make it feel like it was ‘me'”. So I honed my skills even more.
>Q: A genre you’d like to try more of next time?
>I really like R&B and listen to it a lot. Most of the songs I’m working on right now too, are R&B, so I really hope that they make it into the next album. And fans are hoping for a ballad that’s fully in Korean too, I found. So I really want to write the lyrics myself and deliver my gratitude to the fans with such a song.
>Q: Artist you want to collab with?
>Mmm, Oklou. She has a dreamy sound and a unique voice. Her visual presentations are also really unique, for example everyone will be figure skating on an ice rink around her singing in the center. Just always having unpredictable performances. So I wonder what song would come out of a collaboration with her, and I’d definitely want to shoot a video with her too. (laugh)
