Phew, made it through a busy work week with PCD hitting hard the first two days and now finally feeling brave enough to make a post about everything that’s on my mind.

I attended the LA and SF shows and was fortunate enough to not only score front row seats but also send-off at the SF show.

Like many of you, I’ve spent countless hours watching their antics and listening to their voices over the years. Larger than life. Relatable, but distant and unattainable. Like a mirage of a refreshing oasis in a blazing hot desert that you can never quite reach. Always on the horizon as you journey through the desert but never seems to get any closer.

Until one day somehow, that oasis is reached. It wasn’t a mirage after all, and you can prove it to yourself by taking a drink of water from it. The mind is in a state of shock and has to reconcile between fact and fiction. Mirage and reality. The oasis is in fact real and even more beautiful and refreshing than you could’ve ever imagined. The oasis is intimate and comforting, offering all of the fruits that you thought you were seeing in the mirage. Pure paradise. Your mind is finally accepting this as reality.

Alas, we must all continue on our journey through the desert and just as suddenly as you found yourself within the oasis, it once again becomes a mirage on the horizon. Distant and unattainable. You start to wonder to yourself if you were ever actually in that oasis.

Except now you have proof. You bottled up some water, kept some fruit, and cut some flowers. The oasis was real, no matter what your mind tries to tell you. Even when your physical proof is no longer there, your memories are real.

And now as you continue once again on your journey, you can take solace in the memory of the oasis. March boldly and confidently through the harsh desert towards the mirage of the next oasis, for one day you will reach it again and bask in its glory. And hopefully next time spend less time wondering if it’s real and more time enjoying the moment. 😝
