Ten years have transformed a boy’s innocence into a man’s resolve, and youthful passion into legend. In 2025, SEVENTEEN celebrates their 10th anniversary; a milestone carved from countless stages, sweat, and laughter. And at the heart of it all is a voice that can ignite the brightest peak of any stage: DK.
“ I never imagined I would receive so much love,” DK says, with gratitude for the fans being his very first thought when looking back. For him, growth didn’t come as a sudden transformation, but as a steady accumulation of mindset. The deepest change since debut, he admits, is a stronger heart, braver in the face of challenges, able to shoulder expectations and pressure, while finding unwavering faith through his bond with members and fans.
After ten years with SEVENTEEN, DK has emerged as someone new who is carrying both the composure of a man and the pure sincerity of a boy. It’s a quality that perfectly reflects his name: DK. Like a gentle promise, it symbolizes the way he embraces and transforms every challenge, walking forward on a path uniquely his own.
DK’s cheerful, optimistic nature is a gift from his family. “I think the reason I can stay positive comes mostly from my dad. He always told me to think optimistically, so it naturally became a habit. I’ve always liked being bright and open, and whenever I see our fans, I just can’t help but smile!” he shares. Perhaps that’s the secret: when facing hardships, don’t sink into discouragement – shift your perspective, and a new view might appear.
Family shaped DK in more ways than one. Alongside his father, his grandfather planted another seed in his heart: baseball. As a child, he and his sister would often be taken to games by their grandfather. The roar of the crowd, players running under the sun, those images remain vivid. “At that time, I thought the players on the field looked so cool, and that’s how I fell in love with baseball.” In 2024, DK was invited to throw the ceremonial first pitch at a KBO game, stunning the audience and showing a different side of his focus and charm beyond the stage.
Perhaps it’s this family influence that gives DK his boundless energy to share love and happiness with everyone around him. His feelings are always genuine: on stage, when members say “I love you” to him, his eyes brim with tears and his nose crinkles. Offstage, he’s like a big, affectionate puppy eyes sparkling whenever he sees someone or something he loves, running toward it without hesitation.
Over the past decade, SEVENTEEN has written themselves into music history: staging a landmark 10th anniversary concert on Seoul’s symbolic Jamsu Bridge before 100,000 fans; winning Album of the Year at MAMA, Korea’s answer to the Grammys; becoming the first K-pop group to command Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage; and being named UNESCO Youth Goodwill Ambassadors, turning love and responsibility into action. Every achievement has been another line in K-pop’s story that’s etched in SEVENTEEN’s name.
This year, with members enlisting, the world tour kicked off in Incheon with nine on stage. Yet DK remains unshaken: “Because we know we’ll meet again, I don’t feel too sad. I hope fans won’t worry either. I’ll face military service well, let’s cheer on together!” he says with a bright smile, fist raised in fighting spirit. “Please look forward to me at 30!” A brief separation will never sever the bond; after 30 will come 40, 50, and beyond—like SEVENTEEN’s friendship, only growing deeper and stronger with time.
Forever may not exist in this world, but SEVENTEEN dares to challenge forever, because no one loves each other more. With a decade behind them, the next one will still be shoulder to shoulder. DK knows his journey won’t stop here: he’ll keep moving forward, turning the unknown into scenery, challenges into song. Even if the world spins against them, they’ll never lose their way.
Also can I just say how much I love the members interviews, they’re so articulate and you can just tell they’re genuine people.

This section got me so emotional, a brief separation will indeed never separate the bond between Sebongs and Carats. I have no doubt we’ll see 13 again and for a long time! 🩷🩵
