i really, really hope they get an extension. i feel like evnne have a strong fanbase and a strong bond as members, and their music is also great as a unit. i wasn’t expecting to be as fond of them as i have become in the last few years.
any outcome is wishful thinking when it comes to anything produce series/project group related, but still. hoping for the best for them!

4/7 members are WakeOne, with ALD1 W1 might actually be too busy to manage another boygroup too… I’m not sure Jellyfish is going to have two active boygroups though, Kangmin coming off BP2 just missing and getting more popular and Verivery getting a comeback soon, I dont know what to make of this. I have no idea what the status is for Keita with Rain company either.
The wildcard for negotiations will be Yuehua, as they are the wildcard for any ZB1 negotiations too. ENNVE and Zeroses I see online dont like to acknowledge it, but ALL the Yuehuaz are close to this day and while it’s possible things get maintained with EVNNE and or ZB1, occam’s razor = Yuehua gets their trainees back who have 2+ years of experience to make their move with builtin fans (unless they want freshness, Ive seen their trainee account with posts still)

I have my scepticism those talks will be fruitful but it would be cool if I were wrong. Rain Co. probably has no issue continuing (I doubt they have many plans for Keita, if his contract with them will even continue for very long), the hurdles will be
A) does Wakeone want a permanent BG that includes the EVNNE guys (versus, say Taerae solo plus ALD1, in which case they’d be on board I feel)?
B) does *Yuehua* want their guys in on some kind of project with *their* ZB1 trainees (versus debuting the 4 alone, in which case they might be, too)?
C) Does Jellyfish want to continue managing a group for other labels (when if ZB1 disbands there becomes less incentive to such a strong working relationship), or do they want to debut an act wholly their own and/or shift focus to VeriVery? In that case is there another neutral label willing to do so?

EVNNE is all Jellyfish has going for them rn because VERIVERY are having their first comeback in almost 3 years and their contracts literally expire in 3 months. I don’t see any of the members wanting to re-sign because they can be better elsewhere. I also don’t see any reason for ZB1 to extend their contracts as Yuehua needs to make money and are gonna capitalize on ZB1’s popularity. Yuehua already fumbled Everglow, are still trapping Yiren for a few more years, Yena’s career plateaued with Hate Rodrigo, Yuehua’s main branch in China only have actors and established soloists making money for them, and buying their way through survival shows has not done them any good (Looong9)

Some of the ZB1 members have been talking about ‘their plans in 2026’ which seems like they’re hinting at a contract extension, so probably related to EVNNE as well?

The three routes are essentially
1.) EVNNE continues as 7
2.) EVNNE continues without Seungeon and/or Yunseo depending on Yuehua
3.) There is some sort of reshuffle the contains EVNNE members, Gunwook and Taerae and if we’re being crazy theorists, Kangmin. Or maybe 4.) There is some outlandish thing we aren’t thinking of, like members going to random agencies and debuting elsewhere, together or apart or not at all depending on who.
Certain members have been more vocal than others about the future, namely Hanbin but it’s difficult to tell if he’s being hopeful/wishful or if he’s hinting at something. Just two days ago he said “it’s only been 2 years, there’s a lot of time and opportunities in the future” so either way I think he knows SOMETHING is in the works for him be it EVNNE or something else.
I was originally in the camp of them extending but I also thought discussions were more or less finalized and waiting to be announced so since that was wrong I’m a bit unsure. I suppose there’s also informal vs formal finalization- maybe everyone knows the answer and what their agencies will do but it just hasn’t been signed off on yet, not sure.
I feel like with Jellyfish VRVR will probably not extend as a full group. The members didn’t do well on BP besides Kangmin, and unfortunately survival show fame for trainees that didn’t make it does tend to taper off within the first year. Kangmin is going to be in a similar boat.
That said, he’s so young- being 2003, he’s younger than nearly half of EVNNE. He could totally be slotted into a new group, be it F1are if that comes to fruition, or a Jellyfish NBG.
All of Jellyfish’s Boys Planet trainees did not do well, so I don’t know if any of them would be in the running for a Gunwook group. I’ll put it frankly I don’t know if Jellyfish has a strong eye for trainees, or maybe they just don’t have a very big pool of kids auditioning. Either way, they’ll need to start from scratch if they want to make a group for Gunwook that does well. EVNNE loves their Jellyfish staff- they’re close with their managers and their CEO, so I don’t see any of them having major qualms with staying at Jellyfish if it was up to them, besides maybe Seungeon and Yunseo if Yuehua wants them back and/or they see bigger and better things in their future in the Yuehua NBG.
This makes me think that a viable route would be some reshuffle that includes EVNNE boys, Gunwook, or even Taerae or Kangmin.
If Taerae doesn’t debut with the EVNNE boys, which I don’t think he’d do at Wakeone, his route is soloist. That’s really all I see. ALD1 is 6 years, they don’t need a NBG. And maybe that’s better for him and his career in the long run, I don’t know.
As for Yuehua NBG, a rumor I saw a bit ago was that Yuehua has trainees they intend to debut with their ZB1, and they don’t want Yunseo and Seungeon. Rumors and rumors but I do know they have 7+ male trainees (albeit younger from what I’ve heard) and from a marketing standpoint, I think they are better off with some new faces rather than simply ZB1 + EVNNE (think IVE and LSFM, who each only have 2 IZ*ONE members and the rest are new). With this in mind perhaps Jellyfish will just keep them all as EVNNE, disband VRVR, and send Kangmin off to a F1are spin-off group.
Either way I hope Wakeonez and Keita have something to fall back on. I’m not worried about Hayangz, but for the rest I’m really unsure where they’ll go.
It seems the companies just don’t know what to do because deep down they know that disbanding these groups could be detrimental (IVE and LSFM were abnormal- most post-survival show groups, especially boy groups, do terribly) but the companies also can’t resist being greedy and the idea of all profit being theirs. Yuehua is always going to be the roadblock because they have a successful debut in their hands. Everyone else is, in my opinion, more or less fucked, besides maybe Sung Hanbin if he debuts solo, which is tough. So for everyone else, their current group is likely best bet.
I do see OT5 ZB1 being a thing, and Yuehuaz OT4 + someone. I’m just not sure who that someone is- Yunseo and Seungeon, so killing and/or making an OT5 EVNNE? Or new faces, leaving EVNNE?
Either way this put things into perspective for me. I can’t worry about it as it’s not in my control. All I can do is hope for the best.
