Bookkeu, whose presence is as warm and bright as Seungkwan’s, became the youngest member of the Boo family in 2018. The longer Seungkwan’s overseas schedules get, the more he misses Bookkeu. When that happens, he quietly watches videos his family sends him. “My family shares photos every day, and honestly, 99.8% of our chatroom is just Bookkeu,” he laughs. “Even on the most exhausting nights, one look at his face and it’s like someone turned the light back on inside me.”
“When I stop by home and then have to leave again, my family immediately sends a picture of a sulky Bookkeu to the chat. My heart aches every time, but it also moves me it makes me realize he really sees me as family.”
That’s why Seungkwan treasures the “home cam” scenes of his family the most. “Sometimes I see my mom just quietly holding Bookkeu on the home cam, and the sight looks so peaceful and happy. I captured that moment. I still look at it sometimes. It feels like even when I’m not home, Bookkeu fills that empty space for me.”
That picture, he says, reminds him to live with the same kindness that fills his days with purpose. Someday, Seungkwan hopes to take a trip with all the SEVENTEEN members and their pets together. “We’ve been planning it for years but never managed to go,” he admits with a grin. “I think it’s time we finally make it happen.”
