Former I.O.I/Weki Meki member and actress Kim Doyeon wins Best New Actress at the 46th Blue Dragon Film Awards for her role in "Idiot Girls and School Ghost: School Anniversary". Her award winning speech mentions that she first debuted as an idol and that many fans liked seeing her sing and dance on the stage, and she thanked fans who continued to support her as an actress.

Previously, it was known by many that Doyeon went to London for a short while to attend and study in acting classes overseas. Also noting that Doyeon actually filmed this movie a few years back, prior to her overseas study, and was only released last year in 2024.

For those who are curious, some upcoming projects that Doyeon has underway:

  • Film "Dora" starring opposite Japanese actress Ando Sakura, directed by July Jung
  • Historical drama "Praying for the Moonflower" starring opposite Lee Jong Won

As a bonus, Doyeon was also seen together with fellow Produce alumni Kim Minju and actress Roh Yoonseo, who were both nominated for the same award.

Love that for her. She was on a web talk show with Kim Jong-min before and mentioned that she’s really grown a passion for acting, which was why she went to London to study acting in the first place.

Real talk, IOI members are really growing into their own solo careers now, with many of them starring and leading their own dramas this year amongst other things like musicals and theatre.
