This is absolutely shocking to me. Granted I haven’t been following the feud as closely, but I definitely didn’t expect that Danielle out of all members would be cut off. The success of NewJeans was so huge that I’m kind of sad it has to come to this.

I??? am actually speechless. Out of all of the remaining members in limbo, Dani was lowest on my list for ADOR to release from her contract.

I have a feeling I’m going to be doing a LOT of reading and catching up tonight!!

  3. Honestly this seems like a dumb move from ADOR. Most fans who support the girls and sided with them on the conflict are already weary of continuing to support the group, and you decide to kick out one of them? When I first saw the news (said as just “her contract has been termnated”) I thought it was her choice.

I assume there were apologies and such demanded from Ador.

Which makes me wonder if Hanni agreed.

Also interesting that Danielle was one of the only two members to attend meditation which failed.

  5. WHAT?? this is crazy….. all i wanted was to see the 5 of them together again. guess that’s not happening :/

  6. Virtual-Commercial16 on

I wish all of them could get away from HYBE. Without all 5, the group is done. Sad because they were genuinely so exciting and fun when they debuted. I’m not a gg Stan but loved them.

wait, they took Hanni back? The girl who went as far as lying at the National Assembly? I cannot imagine how horrible Illit members are feeling right now

Remember. We are outsiders. We were not there when things happened. We don’t know what was said and done behind closed doors. We don’t know why anyone did what they did. We don’t know why decisions were made. We don’t know anyone’s past, current or future intentions. We don’t know what will happen next.

    Just a few thought.

The detailed statement from ADOR is interesting. Sounds like they’re gonna spin that the members were innocent and manipulated over a long period of time. I guess it makes sense in order to settle things and seriously bring Newjeans back.

Did not expect this at all, I thought Danielle and Hanni were thick as thieves and would either get kicked out together or rejoin NJ together

  11. If ADOR cuts off Danielle, they should make sure her contract is still in effect so she can’t leave ADOR for another agency without paying the termination fee.

  12. Surprised ppl are surprised lmao. Among the 5, she was one of the top yappers to push out MHJ’s bs – esp as she was trying to gain international support on the western side of the fan base

  13. Woah! Gonna be sticking around for the next few hours to hear on news with Hanni and Minji. ☕️😏

  14. I know there are former fans of NJ here like myself that are no longer fans, but damn, thinking back, their Super Shy Get Up era was the peak for me imo.

There was that brief time I wanted friendly ILLIT and NJ dance challenges together before MHJ did her thing. In an alternate universe, this would have been the case. So sad it didn’t happen. I would have stanned both these groups.

  15. DragonReborn_96 on

Hybe and ADOR know what they are doing. Turning fans and other against the girls and hoping to turn the girls against eachother. Also placing they blame on these teenage, at the time, girls instead of taking responsibility of their own actions in creating this whole mess

  16. it’s crazy how most kpop fans will take a label side and not the artist this is why most kpop artist want to make it big in america and leave the kpop genre behind

trust me new jeans will be brought by a american record label in due time they wasn’t even together for two years and was breaking records

  17. So, they’re alleging contract interference by the family and MHJ. I only know enough US business law to know when to call a lawyer, as an accountant with “biz law 101” education from uni. But tldr: this line claims that the party getting sued knew about a valid contract and did something to disrupt its performance and hurt the party that is suing. [Cornell reference](https://www.law.cornell.edu/wex/intentional_interference_with_contractual_relations#)

Hybe’s lawyers would most likely be able to claim the family had influence, as a minor’s legal guardians. The MHJ situation will prob take longer to deliberate bc technically, she’s just their ex-boss. I could see a lot of tense readings of subpoenaed text/chat history in court, with the main bend being determining whether or not she fed the NJ members disinformation.

Also, they’ll need to arrive at some kind of figure for damages and Hybe may hire a forensic accountant and/or someone with business valuation experience to get a legally defensible number. The US edition is a forensic accountant should be impartial, providing the court with an informed opinion on lost brand value/money lost on contract disruption and a report backing it up. In this case, Hybe team will want to wring MHJ+the family dry, MHJ+the family legal team will want to drive down this valuation and maybe argue it’s like wanting blood from a stone. It’s a high pressure work environment to be in bc inevitably, you’ll piss off someone and everyone they’re friendly with.

  18. I not to update with NJ but why does the company hate them so much? Or at least that’s what I see. Like just let them do whatever they want as a group, stop being toxic towards them.

  19. I think if you do one, she won’t be able to do much, if you terminate three, they can try and reform another group with another agency, and hybe doesn’t want that. I’m surprised if at this point hybe hasn’t trademarked everything new jeans and NJZ, so if they all leave, they cannot use any of it.

I think some of you in these comments need to remember you don’t know what happened. We are not in the company, we were not in the group. These comments are very nasty towards idols we don’t know ! I think it’s a sad situation as these girls are still so young

  21. Good lord. Danielle always had the widest eyed support which made me feel like she sipped the Kool Aid the worst. Turns out even her family was the same

  22. So I have only ish followed this situation and only somewhat know the members individually, though I have enjoyed NJ’s music greatly and some of their performances. Can someone tell me Danielle’s role in the group? How much of a role does she have? Is she Nayeon level when it comes to lines and focus or more like Shuhua in early G-IDLE (no hate to Shuhua! Just early on she wasn’t a big focus for a variety of reasons).

  23. Just read the story on allkpop. Wild! Apparently a family member of Danielle (along with MHJ of course) is who stirred the pot…

Clearly a lot of stuff has happened behind closed doors. It must be pretty bad to effectively kick Danielle out of Newjeans!

  24. Extendableskeleton on

Not what I expected to happen, tbh.

By the sounds of it, some major clearing of the air has happened with the others, but at the same time, we don’t know what happened behind the scenes that has led ADOR to make that decision.  There might have been a tipping point that went against the contract which is still legally enforceable.

I wish nothing but luck to the remaining girls.

  25. I’m a bit shocked. Dani’s family member must have really sabotaged everything and/or insulted them for them to kick her out. At least they are not suing her.

ADOR has three of five with the possibility of a fourth returning. The things that made them unique are all gone and this would be the final nail in that coffin.

I don’t know where NewJeans can go from here. ADOR is really in a bind when it comes to concepts for future comebacks. I think ADOR will need to bring in a fifth member to round them out and make up for losing Dani. (*Not that she was solely integral to the group’s success, but was integral to the group’s overall dynamics.*) But, they can’t really introduce a new member because that person will get a lot of hate from all sides. So, that leaves NeeJeans eventual comeback to be as a trio or quartet.

I’m not expecting anything until 2027 at this point. Some members are really going to feel Dani’s loss, especially if ADOR ends up banning any contact.

**PURE SPECULATION**: I would not be shocked if YG picks Danielle up for that “Next Monster” group. It’s not lost on me that they started a roll out of introducing the members then stopped after two (of four) right around when it stated getting known that Dani was hanging out with Sean and Park Bogum. This group is expected to debut in 2027.

Then, again, Dani could just as easily go solo or leave K-Pop for acting, family business (or whatever they do), or something else.

  26. i don’t blame these girls for how this started, hybe needed to have more oversight and mixed involvement to make sure there were no misleading ideas going around (replacing groups that are all young and had insane investment for example) but anyone who thinks this is unreasonable is either very young and/or naive.

they all had over a year to read through everything, to negotiate, to make independent decisions away from MHJ, HYBE, and NJS. instead, they lumped just about everything in with MHJ down to their law firm. they’re not removing danielle as a power play, they’re suing her and her family for attempted tampering and poaching. that’s serious under the law.

they were 2 years into a 7 year contract. around years 3-4 solo work starts in conjunction with group work. at 7 years, you renegotiate. if they kept their trajectory from year 1, those girls could’ve asked for borderline anything they wanted *or walked away together then*.

instead, they were misled and then, and here’s the important part, continuously chose this path even when presented with options that were optimal for everyone. this did not have to happen this way. they were on their way to being a top 5 group, already top 1-2 girl group, well paid (i believe it was around 2M USD/yr each), living in the most bougie neighborhood in seoul, and had seemingly endless popularity.

they put their trust in someone with bad intentions, didn’t think for the long term or how legally, they would be responsible, and now the consequences *everyone in here* *and lawyers across korea* predicted are coming to fruition.

i hope the other 4 find happiness for the rest of their contract lengths and make whatever amends are appropriate with the other idols they’ve hurt, and i hold no ill will toward danielle, but i do not think that being an idol means you are somehow immune from being held to legal standards.

  27. You had 1 Job ADOR, get the band back together, and you failed.  Goodluck making this all work now.

  28. Surprised that Hanni is the one putting her head down. Things with Danielle behind the scenes were probably pretty nasty.

  29. hybridcocacola on

bunnies still proving they’re dumb putting the blame on hybe/ador for not having danielle come back lol

  30. It just struck me that all this could have been somewhat avoided if they just only allowed Haerin and Hyein to come back (as was initially the case) to deal with this developing situation better.

Announcing them all back, and then coming out with this news makes the whole thing messier.
