I’m really lowkey interested in how he returns to Kpop to be honest. Will he promote A20 May in Korea and make them a full blown global group? According to the article yeah, but I’m curious how they’ll be perceived by the GP. I still don’t know how I feel about their music, but the girls are talented.
I almost wish he would have just retired, but kinda excited for the ✨mess✨ that he will likely cause. Dunno how, but LSM is so good at mess I’m sure he’ll figure something out.

Looks like a real head-to-head battle with SM is about to unfold. Setting aside his various controversies, I think Lee Soo-man and Yoo Young-jin possess exceptional ability when it comes to building groups in the K-pop industry.

i am already exhausted for every idol under both sm and a2o regarding how many comparisons and accusations will be weaponized by fans/antis and news sites alike once lsm becomes properly involved in the this industry again
i am sure the groups he debuts will be a force to be reckoned with, having both lsm’s creative eye + yyj’s exceptional production talent, but damn if i dont also think this is going to be the perfect storm for some bullshit to take place when it comes to sm’s current perception in the kpop zeitgeist 🗿

I haven’t been sold on their music output thus far with A20 May but will see how their bg debut goes. Assuming they will debut before SM’s new boy group which would make for another interesting comparison.

The battle between A2O & SM gonna be so intense in coming years. But I’m lowkey seated for his new boy group as I like May & their music so far.

The man has a good amount of both female and male trainees so I’m hoping whoever they debut had original songs. Because A20 May gets straight remakes only.
I know YYJ is loyal to LSM, but I just want him to start writing and producing for other people again. Like I need him to collaborate with Kyungsoo again. The world needs another Tell Me What is Love.

I’m curious about how these groups will evolve. I thought Yoo Young-jin producing would make me love the music but A20 May hasn’t scratched that LSM YYJ itch at all.

idk, just my opinion but a20’s music sucks so far, i’m not particularly impressed. bbb was kind of okay, sans the cheering in the chorus, but paparazzi arrive is dated as hell and not in a throwback or nostalgic way. and the music videos are giving 2013 sm mvs with implanted genie ads
the mirotic cover was also random as hell, it feels like they did it because lee sooman and yoo youngjin probably own the rights to the song, that’s my guess at least.
i’m also not sold on the tween group idea with the younger girls. but a20 may seem like a solid and talented group of girls, despite my critique i genuinely don’t think they’re the problem, they sell it despite how whelmed i am with the music
LSM does have one hell of a creative eye but it feels like he and YYJ have not delivered with the same quality.
there’s a strange allegiance to LSM amongst SOME smtown fans have that’s kinda like a certain bunny group with their ex CEO, as if they both have monopolies on good ideas so we have to tolerate their bad ideas too. imo post-LSM SM has been fine.
it’ll be interesting to see what he can do but i do not think it will threaten the hegemony of SM, the company is too big to fail at this point. after all riize and h2h are post-LSM and are doing great domestically

I can’t be the only one who thinks that Lee Soo Man and Yoo Young Jin’s musical output fell of after they left SM right? Sure the vocals are good but the songs are pretty meh compared to what they have produced in the past. In my opinion, people will only tune in for the debut for the drama, but might tune out after debut. At worst, they might have a drop in sales even if they manage to retain a fanbase. And besides, it’s not like 5th gen SM groups are falling of, Riize, Hearts2Hearts, and NCT Wish are doing very well in Korea as far as I am aware. If he returns Kpop with the mindset “I need to defeat SM”, then his group will not be as successful as he wants them to be. Overall, I am not expecting a “golden era of Kpop” return, but I am curious what the group is like.

a LSM group the same year as a new SM bg and a possible MHJ bg?? I LOVE WHEN KPOP GETS A LITTLE SPICY.
this also happening alongside longshot, cortis, kickflip and alphadriveone. I know there are small and medium sized companies with amazing new debuts too like AHOF and CYE. isn’t there a rumoured new YG bg too??
I love it I love it love it. JUST LET THE MUSIC BE GOOD 😊

I have to think with A2O’s releases so far they’ve been keeping the best for their Korean Debut. Interesting times.

Hilarious that the opinions on A20 May’s music are all “not sure about” to “it’s bad” because I’ve loved every single “title track” they put out and I’m constantly sitting around saying ideologically I don’t agree with LSM but he knows how to make a fun K-pop song. Like “I’m the raise they exclaimated” is an S tier K-pop lyric. It’s nonsense, but unlike a lot of “nonsense” that other groups put out it’s not a trend word salad or repeated one hundred times to the point it gets grating. If you listen to it it almost makes sense until you realise it actually really doesn’t, and it doesn’t matter! There are no stakes, the song doesn’t give any impression that it is caught up in its own self importance, and, crucially, the song has a bassline.
