So I am a new Blink you could say (like started following bp since last Aug) so please don’t take this the wrong way

I genuinely love all four members and think they’re iconic in their own ways. But I’ve noticed Jennie and Lisa seem to get a lot more hype and engagement compared to Jisoo and Rosé.

I’m just curious like is there a reason for that?

Because to me Jisoo and Rosé are just as powerful and talented and sometimes it feels like they don’t get the same level of spotlight they deserve.

Would love to understand the fandom dynamic better!!!!!

  1. I think Jisoo gets a lot more attention in Korea and Asia while Rosé is starting to get a lot more attention for her solo work.

But it’s all good. The Pinks are all super supportive of each other and they don’t try to compete with each other. So there’s no reason for us to project that on them.

And FWIW, Jisoo is my bias.

  2. Jennie had been an IT Girl in Korea since debut and Lisa has positioned herself as a global celebrity and socialite.

  3. I’ve been following since around a similar time and I haven’t noticed that. Lately, I’d say Rose is all over the place cause she was nominated for a Grammy.

And most recently, my different fandoms have collided with that Pokemon commercial featuring Jisoo, and Charles Leclerc.

  4. Rosé was nominated for 3 grammies and performed at the show. Think she’s getting plenty of spotlight right now.

My guess for Jisoo is that she’s a bit limited in the western countries because she doesn’t speak English as well. She’s also more conservative in how she dresses compared to the other members. She is still very popular in Korea, and is probably the best vocalist in the group in my opinion.

Lisa and Jennie have a lot of sex appeal which sells pretty well right now, both speak multiple languages fairly well and rap which helps reach across the aisle to people who appreciate genres other than kpop.

From what I understand it’s just coincidence. I think Jennie and Lisa stood out sooner, maybe because they’re rappers and Lisa’s an excellent dancer, but Rosé has been coming to the front in the past year or two as she’s started finding her unique identity. Jisoo is the only one who is a little more buttoned up than the others who dress and act a little more “sexy” (for lack of a better word), just in that I’ve noticed Jisoo doesn’t wear stuff as revealing as the others which is why I think it’s taken Jisoo a little longer. But she is starting to find her way this past year too, leaning more into acting and the ad she’s done with Dior, she’s very Aubrey Hepburn I think it just took time for her to stand out in her own way

  6. LISA is undoubtedly one of the most popular KPOP idols in general.. she definitely has a chokehold on fans from SEA, China & Western countries (i think her cool girl vibe resonates a lot with the fans & casuals)

JENNIE is most popular in SOKOR. she’s been labeled as an IT girl & has been pushed even pre-debut to be one of the next successful idols from YG

ROSE is gaining more traction in the West after APT blew up, and with the Grammy nod and other international accolades, i think her popularity outside of BP will be more visible

JISOO is probably the least(?) recognized internationally imo.. she’s still definitely very popular as a BP member and ambassador for global brands like dior, cartier, alo, tommy hilfiger, etc BUT i think in comparison to the other girls, her ventures are still tied to the Blackpink brand rather than the Jisoo brand

OVERALL though, all the girlies are soooo successful and their achievements have cemented all four as ICONIC 👑

It’s honestly just the way it’s been since like 2018/2019, hardly is there a K-pop group where everyone is equally popular, honestly even just groups in general (not just K-pop like one direction or little mix, etc)

  8. Huh? Rose just got nominated for a Grammy and made history. Im not sure where ur seeing this lack of hype

  9. They’re popular in different genres and areas. Jisoo has a lot of popularity in China and Korea. As does Jennie. Rose has gained a lot of popularity in the West, as has Lisa. Jennie is definitely more known in higher fashion sects and her solo work has primarily been focused on R&B style. Rose is more girl with guitar, almost like a Taylor Swift in lover and 1989 meets Reputation way. Lisa had lost some Asian popularity for a bit because of doing Crazy Horse, a burlesque show in France. Asia tends to be more conservative, plus she is Thai in Kpop, so that will always stand out. Western fans have weird views on them though. I find TikTok is cruel with a lot of people believing celeb gossip which is all made up nonsense to grift off fans.
