I'm a completionist so I want to make a discussion post for every song NMIXX has done that's treated as an official release, but based on people's comments last time it makes sense that this kind of thing won't get as much interest as the main songs. So any time there's a cover or Hey Gabby! like thing, I'll post that on Tuesday and keep the weekly Friday posts on the main songs. (I think there are only 2 or 3 more of these)

Anyway, this is a cover of "Kiss", originally released in 2009 by the group Rainbow. The cover came out as part of the "Summer Vacation Project" which had 5 covers of songs by various bands. I'm assuming that they were just trying to increase NMIXX's visibility in the early days of the group when they still only had 2 songs.

I'd also like to bring up another cover NMIXX did around the same time, of Blackpink's Kill This Love. They did it on It's Live, and got a really good response. Judging from the outfits and Jinni's absence I think they did this at the same time as O.O.

Jinni did not appear in the performance because she had COVID, but she did sing the song; I think her parts were played into the performance (are the other girls singing live?)

Previous discussion: Hey Gabby!/Sprinkle Party Next song: DICE

I’ll admit that I didn’t know this song was a cover until maybe two weeks ago. It definitely doesn’t have the “NMIXX feel”, though

EDIT: About “Kill This Love”. NMIXX has a bunch of great covers but I kind of thought this was a weaker one. I think they would do it a lot better now, though, as their sound has matured a bit since then.
