21st century romance is a great song ! I like moody songs like these. This album is full of such moody songs , like going about your day on a heavy dark rainy day. Such a consistent vibe throughout this album
I really enjoyed this on first listen. I can already see myself replaying stick with you a lot. Take me to Nirvana was probably the only song I didn’t connect with on the first listen.
Edit: I’ve done another listen through and it’s still just so fun and enjoyable. This is an ep you can play start to finish without needing to skip.
a club classic, but a moody one
Their discography remains immaculate!
What I like about TXT is that every album there’s a distinct sound and imagery that differs each comeback. This one feels like you’re in a dream dancing in a club, you’re still but the world around you is moving (or the other way around). It’s giving club, dance, etc.!
Favorite so far is Take Me to Nirvana and 21st Century Romance.
Bed of thorns and dream of mine are 10/10. I’m not sure if they’re electronic or what the sound is, but I just love it and wasn’t expecting it at all (my fav type of music). 21st century romance is great too.
Copying my comment from what I posted on the TXT sub:
Bed of thorns was so good, loved it. It was such a beautiful opener to the album and really set the tone for the rest of it.
Stick with you was so good, the MV was confusing af though. Hyuka’s vocals shone through brilliantly.
The take me to nirvana intro was so whimsical, i love it, the instrumental is so fun, but why so short 😭. Might be my fave song though, it’s totally my taste, loved the feature as well.
So what is so fun as well, yeonjun’s verse killed it and Beomgyu rapper omg I’ve been waiting forever for his return. We got a full bridge too !! Taehyun sounded so ethereal too.
21st Century Romance was so unexpected, it’s literally how Yeonjun described it, like an end credit scene for a coming of age movie. The rock(?) elements were beautiful.
Dream of mine reminds me of something but I can’t quite put my finger on it. It’s putting on a nice spin on the genres TXT have already dabbled in. Kind of reminds me of like early 2000s movies.
Their strongest release in a while. Also, you can tell Yeonjun wrote So What.
Good God, I love these magical boys.
take me to nirvana has no right going this hard im gagged!!!
update: so what has no right either 😭
overall.. very satisfying album, its like a mix of dreampop, electronic, and alt pop..
listening to the album and you can really feel their musical growth! sometimes its a bit hard to believe txt is already 7 years old but this album really really shows it well. they feel like seasoned mature artists
Yessss!! I am loving this comeback!!!!! Ready for their live performances of the tracks.
Bed of Thorns, 21st Century Romance and Dream of Mine are standouts for me!! I digged the beginning of both Take me to Nirvana and So What but they kinda didn’t stick in the first listen (btw So What is so Yeoonjun coded was he involved in making the song?). The title is amazing I really love the verses so much. Will wait for the translations for a relisten because they really do change my mind. Overall it’s such a cohesive project and really fun to listen at one go, love the sound they are going for after the renewal.
Take me to nirvana was soooo good. I’m honestly still pretty confused about the stick with you mv, but I’m SO excited for the translation to come out and for the fan theories to really kick into gear. Entire album of bangers. 10/10 no notes
Give me another minute for dream of mine I’m begging (overall really like this release)
i’m blown away by this album, wow. this is definitely their most sonically cohesive album since debut. all the songs fit perfectly with each other and the subleties in the production tie everything together. the use of synths in almost all songs is SO intentional, and helps create a proper sound atmosphere!
i still need to listen to the album more to be able to go track by track BUT i have to say… they’ve done it again like always but this time EVEN BETTER!!
So What is such a bop
The album is absolutely spectacular and musically it’s even better than I imagined from the previews 😵💫
I genuinely can’t decide which song is my fave cause they’re all insanely good in their own way!!!! I love TXT!!!!!!!
If you told me So What was originally supposed to be on No Labels I wouldn’t be surprised. It is so Yeonjun coded.
As for the rest of the album I love it, particularly 21st Century Romance it’s such a beautiful song!
Too fuckin’ SHORT. My gears are grinding.
Okay, with that out of the way, holy hell this freakin’ album is addictive. Take Me to Nirvana reminds me of the EDM I inhaled during the very early 2000’s. The overall moody atmosphere of the album is so TXT but they upped it more this time around. I feel like this is only a fraction of what should be the culmination of TXT’s sound over the past 7 years.
All the songs are surprisingly short, but I am not going to complain because they are very similar to the kind of music I listen to, which doesn’t always happen in K-pop.
sorry idk if its an appropriate place to say it but txt just debuted at n34 on melon! in their 7th year they managed to outchart their TWO previous comebacks! and by MILES (99 for Love lang & 97 for Beautiful Strangers)
This is such a dreamy record. Dare I say best since…sweet
Great album i think the title track could use a bit more sauce on it tho
This album is so good I’m in love!
The songs all have the same feeling of sadness/melancholy/anxiety underlying them even though the genres and lyrics are very different, which makes the album feel really cohesive and like an emotional experience when listening top to bottom.
I’m gagged with stick with you
MY MOUTH WAS WIDE OPEN THE WHOLE MV
Arguably the best Male group release this year
yet to listen to the bsides
21st century romance is so pretty omfg
**bed of thorns**: that bass line is addictive, the instrumental is heavily textured and evokes a beautiful mood. i feel like i’m in the club but like, in a moody pink lighting in a state of hypnosis. the vocals are wonderful here.
**stick with you**: this is evokes kind of a similar feeling to bed of thorns in a way, it’s a great tile track. i love the autotuned “is this a dream” it sounds pretty unique. this also has a great house bass line, and the fluttering synths are so beautiful that it brings you into a dream world.
**take me to nirvana**: i love the start of the song, that plucking synth is so pretty. almost sounds like a bubble popping. and the beautiful vocals to start. i love kai’s first verse. and another fire bass line to give this song a punchy feel, but it’s still dreamy carried by the lovely top line.
**so what**: this is sooo yeonjun, i could see it on no labels. this is a nice vibe switch, the drums are punchy af and really carry the song. i like the prechorus with the somewhat subdued vocals, which then leads into a punchier chorus. and the bridge is fantastic!
**21st century romance**: i like the motorcycle starting up to begin the song with taehyun’s vocals. damn this is good with the strings and drums. really evokes a band-like feeling and the dreamy falsettos and light singing style really evokes a nostalgic for a love that hasn’t happened yet. this kinda reminds me of farewell, neverland is some way, sort of in a different font? idk
**dream of mine**: damn, i love this too. the guitar is awesome and i love their vocals on this, yearning like they’ve never yearned before. this feels like it could be in 2000’s coming of age drama movie. so good.
overall, this might be one of my favorite albums from them, it evokes so many feelings and it is very cohesive. it’s like crying in the club lol. only complaint, is the songs are kind of short, but still very good!
Stick with You and Take Me to Nirvana are the best songs from the album. They’re soooo good. Other than I really like So What, it’s so Yeonjun. And the vocals in 21st Century Romance are heavenly. Dream of Mine didn’t really stand out to me. As for Bed of Thorns, I think it will take me a few listens to get this one. Overall, it’s an amazing album.
I am so sick of HYBE/Big Hit sabotaging this group with 2 minute/incomplete songs. If some of the songs ended on a more polished note, they had a more impactful 2nd chorus… A BRIDGE?! This would have easily been their best album. The sound palette of this ep is phenomenal
I like that the album is sonically and thematically coherent but still with different vibes. The bsides outshine a little the tt but that’s ok. Except so what and bed of thorns, it’s still too short and screw bh hybe for that. So what (even more after the showcase performance) and 21st century romance get my flowers, so so good in very different ways but bed of thorns is a nice surprise and I like the two others.
