Does “Written by” just cover lyrics or the music, too?

i seriously wonder what a writing process like this looks like.
is it all of these people around an oval table listening to the instrumentals and saying “this word goes here” and then another person says “no it goes over here, and we should add this part right here.” and then a third person writes a line that everybody loves and they all work towards finding the perfect place to put it?
or is it one person writing all of it and everybody else approving it? maybe adding one or two things?
been writing songs for 20 years but I’ve never written one *with* somebody else, so a 5+ person team I’m curious what that workflow would look like.
do people ever argue over parts? are there fights? is it ever awkward with one person liking a part but other people dissagreeing but not wanting to tell them they don’t like it? these are all things I think about
