250228 LISA – ‘ALTER EGO’ (Album Discussion)

Haven’t listened to it, but i was told she wrote 13/15 of her songs!!

I’m jealous of new zealand blinks,they have already heard it😭😭😭

In Australia and I just quickly listened cos it’s bedtime, but a very diversive set of tracks. I liked Elastigirl right off the bat. Honestly, this was the album I was most excited for, and she definitely didn’t disappoint!!!

My thoughts as I’m listening to the album on first listen:

Elastigirl = >!Lisa rapping here omg. A bit of Middle Eastern/North African vibe here in the pre-chorus and a bit of the chorus (and outro). It’s catchy.!<
Thunder = >!Love the beginning instrumentals omg. The chorus & post-chorus here are my favourite bits of the song. Lisa ascending in the heavens with her pitch in the post-chorus. Plus the instrumentals? It’s perfect. What I’m finding is that this song and Elastigirl is too short 😭.!<
FXCK UP THE WORLD = >!Lisa’s flow omg! She slayed her raps here. The pre-chorus/chorus is really catchy. The 2nd verse surprised me for a sec – I guess I wasn’t expecting Future’s voice to be like that (never heard of him). I think I prefer the 1st verse and the bridge/third verse over it though. Again too short!!<
Rapunzel = >!Holy cow, wasn’t expecting the song to be so chill (considering Meghan being the badarse she is). You can tell the vibes are chill immediately with the intro instrumentals (the instrumentals in general have some cowboy/western vibes as well?!!). This is like a laid-back summer rap bop that’s on the backdrop in a girl car trip in the summer sunset. I think as a result I’m getting Barbie vibes but maybe that’s a stretch. !<
When I’m with you = >!Laid-back, maybe latin beat? Cute, chill bop. I can see myself playing this song on loop. Lisa rapping here, yay! 2nd part of the 2nd verse is really catchy, I like the rhythm there. Tyla’s voice is beautiful. Nice chorus, really calming and soothing. I love the bridge/outro, it’s really nice. Again reminding me of summer sunsets. Why do I feel like this album would be more suited for a summer release 😭? !<
BADGRRRL = >!Instrumentals here is quite funky/experimental/interesting. I think they are the best part of this song. Lisa being the badarse she is. Some Lisa’s flows here is really catchy. Pre-chorus is really catchy. I also like the flows in the 2nd half of 2nd verse. !<
Lifestyle = >!My favourite song so far. The intro was amazing. I like the mysterious/dark/haunting chanting vibes of this song. Idk how to explain it lol. The chorus is catchy. I like how Lisa’s ends the song with her vocals.!<
Chill = >!Wait – this might be my new favourite song here lol 😂😅. Intro instrumentals here is really interesting. I like the slick, jazzy vibes of the pre-chorus, I also like the chorus. The ‘aahha’ bits of the chorus is so good. Omg the bridge with the backdrop choir/layered vocals was soo good. !<
Dream = >!This is a ballad. Twinkly instrumentals aiding the ethereal vibe. I like the lyrics here. Probably the best written song so far based on first listen. “Whenever I close my eyes/it’s taking me back in time/Been drowning in dreams lately/Like it’s 2019 baby,” is an example. “Like it’s 2019” <<< did Lisa meet Frederick in 2019 👀? Bridge is really beautiful. Another one of my favs in this album. Nice closer. !<

So far: Lifestyle, Chill & Dream were my fav songs out of the songs we haven’t listened.

Lalisa, you need to Chill !!! One of my fav non single. It’s giving Nelly Furtado vibes, like I was waiting for Timbaland to jump in.

Local time release is PTSD for west coast 😅 like wym it’s still 14+ more hours 💀

A full release like this is so exciting instead of EPs and the smaller comebacks.
