I bought what I thought was an official speedy photo card on Mercari from a seller that had very positive ratings. When I got the photo card, I could immediately tell that it was not official. It was much thinner than a photo card and had visible cute marks and creases and felt smaller. I compared it with my sister‘s photo card who pulled that exact photo card from the album and you can see the difference. It’s also extremely thin and bendable.

I will include two photos one which has an official photo card that I pulled from the album and the other which I bought from her.

She is now arguing with me on Mercari stating that she pulled this photo card from an album and she swears that it’s official. When I told her that it’s clearly not and explained, why she then tried to say it was a target exclusive, which is untrue because the target exclusive selfie is completely different.

Did I get duped? to me it’s pretty obvious that I did, but I figured I would post here and ask for some opinions.

Her shop is @faairyboa on Mercari and I would refrain from buying from her considering she has posted fake photo cards and pretends that they’re real. I should also mention that I have ~14 Lisa photo cards because I purchased a bunch of albums, and all of them look the same except for this one.

never understood why people trip over photocards that are for the most part identical to the real ones. like that’s still lisa in the picture😭. as long as it isn’t crazy fake and matches the real one i don’t see why there’s a problem. but yeah the moral issue still stands – the person should not have sold a fake while claiming it was real.

  2. I know personally I bought the signed jewel case cds, and the pcs are rounded like the one you bought. Of course, the inserts were all autopen but the photocard was thin and flimsy. Everything about the quality was bad as expected from american distribution companies. I think her actual albums printed in korea may have been more on quality control with the photocards. Let’s not accuse sellers before knowing the difference between american press, jewel case photocards, photocards that are in the actual photobook albums and albums printed in korea.

  3. You did not get duped. Both you and the seller are not lying. The seller probably bought the “jewel” case album at target instead of an album that is more expensive and since the photocards are mixed in and not specifically tied to jewel/photobook, the printing process and cutting will be different. I would just request for a return if you are unhappy with it and try to get that specific photocard with the cutting of the one you like.
