Some thought about making an album and the BlackPink comeback, after reading this here:

So, Jennie was deeply involved in the entire process, aiming to make it experimental. She was loved by everyone, and the feeling was mutual. She is hardworking and often redoes things until she feels they're perfect. Jennie wanted to take her music in a Rihanna-inspired direction, and Bibi [Bourelly] played a pivotal role throughout the process.

In my opinion, the involvement of the artist is crucial. I might be mistaken, but it seems that many K-Pop artists, especially new groups, have minimal influence over their music. The company produces the songs and then dictates how they should be performed. This isn't surprising—would you expect a 17-year-old to compose the music themselves? That said, I know that Teddy treated the girls with great respect. He especially worked collaboratively with them on their solo songs. I suppose as a group matures and its members gain more experience, they are given more creative input.

Jisoo mentioned that she listened to 200 songs for her album and personally selected the ones she wanted to include. I believe this is a typical process. Since Jisoo was focused on her acting career, I assume she approached her album by choosing songs, making a few requests, and leaving the rest to the producers. I don't know much about Lisa's creative process. As for Jennie, it seems she was the most involved in her music. She describes herself as a perfectionist and said in an interview that she knows exactly what she likes and dislikes. I'm not entirely sure about Rosé, but I think she enjoys singing and creating songs on her guitar. She likely writes her music and then hands it over to the producers to finalize.

BP Comeback: I read on various places, that as I expected, Teddy will not be involved. I hope the girls have more influence and not that they will get finished songs from the company. I also read, it should be more than a mini album, which is a little surprising given the lack of time. I personally would recommend working on 4 great titles, which than will be performed on the tour together with older songs and 4 solo songs per artist. I hope Jennie has some influence on the new songs.

Whats your take on this? How many songs do you expect on the new BP album? It seems, that the girls or at least most of them are now in Korea. I think they will dedicate the next weeks for this.

Please make good songs, please!!

I think they all had a reasonable amount of involvement and have writing credits on most of their songs (how much they actually contributed we will never know but it is a credit). Its fairly obvious Rose was deeply involved in all aspects of her album.

Where did you see that Teddy isn’t going to be involved?

That said unless they have been doing a lot of work on the side (which seems a little doubtful given how much work they put into their albums and how last minute Lisa and Jennie’s albums were being worked on) I don’t think we will see them have that much involvement unless they have previously written and recorded a lot (such as when Chaennie were in the LA studio with Ryan Tedder where The Girls was done). I do want a full (i.e. 12 song album) to make up for previous stuff but agree there might be time issues as they are barely ever in Korea……

  4. I followed all of Rosie’s interviews and she’s deeply involved in the creative process from the beginning. She said it took her most of last year to finish her solo album. APT was one of the first songs she wrote during the end of 2023 just when they weren’t going to re-sign with YG for their solo careers. From the clues she’s given out, she’s been in the studio probably preparing for her deluxe album.

As for the BP album, YG has had a whole year to prepare for it. It remains to be seen if the members will be as involved in the creative process as their solo albums.
