Duoteen (65/78): S.Coups & Jeonghan

This is a pairing dear to my heart for many reasons. And the best way to sort it out is to just list those reasons I guess 😅.

1. First of, together, they have some my absolute favorite Seventeen moments ever!

There’s the famous “Do you think I’m going to let you fail” [clip](https://www.tiktok.com/@vindicatedtruth/video/7041959267414396187?_r=1&_t=ZM-91Rkhz6aYcS). It just warms my heart whenever I see it. It makes me think if fetus Seventeen having each other’s back. Like they weren’t just trying to make it on their own but as a team. And I know it wasn’t a guaranteed mindset from the start but something they worked towards.

There’s also the 2021 season greeting, I can’t add the clip but when asked to send a message to the member he was most thankful for in 2021, Seungcheol said *”To Jeonghan who was my biggest source of strength and became my escape in 2021, in 2022 let’s take good care of ourselves and of our members, and make an even bigger impact with Seventeen as we take one step further.”* I think this little message really stayed with me. I know how much Seventeen care and support each other and I’m always touched when they put it in words like that. I really relate to Seungcheol’s use of ‘escape’ because in many ways that’s what Seventeen represents for Carats. It also feels full circle when you think of the clip I mentioned above. Obviously they’ve been supporting each other all these years but yeah it’s still feels full circle 😅.

And the third moment is this [clip](https://www.tiktok.com/@ddadduthan/video/7170645341711207707) from the Tokyo Dome concert for Be The Sun. I remember how it was Seventeen’s dream to perform there, something Seungcheol had shared was their dream a few times and unfortunately, when they were going to perform there in 2020, well, we know what happened. So when Seventeen finally got there 2 years later it felt pretty special and this little moment just warms my heart it’s like a “we finally made it” moment between Jeonghan and Cheol.

2. Random but Seungcheol joined Pledis in 2009 and Jeonghan was the second to last member to join in 2013. It’s pretty nice to see how close they’ve gotten despite that time gap. Also makes it interesting to see clips of the two in the melona basement and seeing the evolution of their friendship.

3. I already mentioned how they support each other but I think what makes their relationship special is that they support each other in supporting the group. Does that make sense? 😅 like they form a great team when it comes to supporters or Seventeen. They each bring something to table and they’re the first to recognize and appreciate each other’s contributions.

**Seungcheol about Jeonghan:**
**Q: What does the position of being a leader mean to 22yo S.Coups? From a leader stance, is there a member who has especially given you strength?**

**Seungcheol:** “In the beginning, I felt a lot of burden regarding this position but in reality, doing it was alright. The member who gave me strength is Jeonghan. He caught parts that I didn’t know and explained it to me. I don’t have younger siblings but Jeonghan does, so it seems he understands the hearts of our younger friends better than I do.”

“He listens to the younger member’s worries and does the things that I’m not able to do which I’m always thankful for. He’s the group’s father figure, as well as the mother figure. I’m always thankful for him.”

“Someone who makes everything easier. He’d listen to my concerns, make the role of being a leader lighter for me, would always be there to worry with me.”

**Q. There’s a charm that comes with being more free.**

**Seungcheol:** “That’s what SEVENTEEN’s charm is. That charm won’t show when things are too disciplined, awkward, and uptight. That’s why I felt like I was doing something wrong. At that time, Jeonghan really helped me. Jeonghan has always had a casual, friend-like relationship with the members, so he gave me lots of advice and even conveyed to the members how I really felt. From that point on, I let go of a lot of things. Though everyone did well on their own too.”

**message to Jeonghan**

“Thank you for taking care of the younger ones really well. I hope you’d always hug them warmly! Your heart that is always thinking of the team is beautiful, I am learning a lot from you.”

**Jeonghan about Seungcheol:**

“He’s a dependable leader that takes our opinions and take them to Pledis. Not everyone is able to do something as complicated and difficult as what he does, so I’m always grateful towards him.”

**Q. Please tell us what makes you think of S.Coups “cool.”**

**Jeonghan:** “It’s cool how he represents the team and delivers our decision to the company. He arranges the members’ decisions/votes and tells them to the company. Now everyone tells them (to the company) but S.Coups was the first to give us the opportunity to. Also as a leader he gives the members a sense of security. He is the oldest and a reliable person.”

“He really thinks a lot about Seventeen.”

“That’s right, that’s right. He is reliable. Although we are the same age, I still depend on him.” (context, Seventeen was talking about Seungcheol as a leader)

4. I love how whenever they talk about other members they call them “the kids”.

5. I love how childish they get together. I feel like they more than fill their roles as the two eldests yet together are incredibly playful and mischievous. It’s so funny to see the members scolding them during lives or on stage because they just “won’t behave.” They play and bicker and tease and overall ate pretty entertaininy to watch. They just can’t be serious for a minute, like when they tried to turn the wave from MyMy into a tsunami, or whatever they’re doing during God of Music when they’re playing air instruments, I’m so curious because Seungcheol is always dying laughing. Anyway it’s funny because they also get the too old to keep up with the kids accusations lol.
