man i love them im not even into kpop right now but they always had a special place in my heart. every song sounds like exo if you know what i mean
It’s super early in the morning for me so I have to revisit all of these with more sleep, but Flatline immediately sticks out to me. The production on these tracks is really good though and a lot of the sounds are familiar to me as ones EXO’s done before, just more mature and polished. This album is really really good. I’m happy with it
I love Back Pocket it’s so fun!! Gives me 90s vibes for some reason

Suffocate is a MASTERPIECE and I also adore Crazy, those two are my big standouts. I like Crown a lot but I think I prefer back it up, maybe just because I’ve watched that performance a ridiculous amount of times.
I think the first half of the album is better than the second half but it’s a great album and fits really well into their discography.
After many more listens:
Crazy is moving to masterpiece status, I think it’s my favourite. Moonlight Shadows is reminding me of No Makeup and is such a good callback to Exo’s rnb roots. Flatline is also really standing out more and more with each listen. I desperately want to see the live performances
Suffocate and Crazy are the standouts for me from this album. I definitely wish more songs were longer than 3 minutes.
Is it only me, but I feel like there was less rapping in this album compared to EXIST? I’m still traumatized by Private Party having a rap first verse.
I think the MV should have been released for Back It Up!
Crown (it’s a very good song, it kinda seems like it would definitely be a promotional track for a game), Back it up is so idk.
Suffocate, flatline, I’m home are my new favorite and will def be on repeat for many years time.
Overall 9/10 album
I actually didn’t think I’d like it this much because I didn’t like Back it up… but who am I to dare doubt EXOs music capabilities.
I don’t think I can rank the songs yet, but in true EXO fashion, I like their b-sides better than the title track. That said, I do think Crown is a banger – a classic SMP that makes sense given the Reverxe concept. My favorite is Moonlight Shadow and Flatline, but Crazy and Suffocate are great too! Touch and Go is the most catchy though!
I love them all obviously haha but the immediate stand out to me is Flatline. Next pick would be Touch and Go.
I love how much grittier Back it up sounds in the recording, and glad to finally hear Lay’s parts.
I feel a bit ungrateful for this because the songs all sound great and solid but I really wish some of it are longer (shortest songs used to be a little past the 3min mark). I don’t listen much to new music (k or not) but I’ve been told shorter songs are the trend now and it bums me out a little.
Omg this album starts loud af (complimentary) and then mellows out. Love it. As usual I wish the album was longer because songs with all these vocals should be >3 min at least but alas…
The standouts for me are Suffocate, Moonlight Shadows and Flatline — totally forgot how much I need more songs like Flatline (and Universe!) from them especially. Shoutout to the harmonies in Back Pocket too. Overall it’s great; yes maybe they’re trying to catch up with the new and trendy kpop sound with Crown and Back It Up (as if they haven’t dabbled there before), but it still sounds like *them*. And I say this with every release, but they’ve never sounded better. Welcome back EXO!

choosing crown as their title track is the greatest decision because the instrumental alone sounds literally sounds like kings coming back with full power to claim their throne

I agree with whoever said Crown sounded vaguely like a video game ad – which isn’t necessarily bad – and I get why they wanted it for the lead single in a royal concept, but it wasn’t as much of an immediate YES for me the way Back It Up was. I think it’ll be a grower for me, like Cream Soda.
Overall I am so happy with the entire album and it’s going right into heavy rotation.
Man I wish Dem Jointz would have worked with the boys 🙁 at least they worked with Adrian McKinnon
I like this album more than Exist, starts strong (excluding Back It Up, one of the songs I dislike the most) but I feel like it lost a bit of steam after Touch & Go
Crazy and Suffocate are the highlights, I knew Crazy would be my favorite song based on that description SM released.

Have listened twice and having Lay back is so surreal, but in a good way as he was my final EXO bias.
Back it Up goes off. It is familiar and dynamic and of course they sound amazing.
The switch up on Crazy is fab, definitely epic.
I can see why Suffocate seems to be a fan fave…dark and epic and I can imagine some hoe – choreo (hoereo?)
Moonlight Shadows will be a grower I suspect.

Upon first listen, minus Back It Up and I’m Home since we heard these before the album drop, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE SUFFOCATE OMG!!! I was bopping my head the whole time, SO SO GOOD 🔥
Also, Back Pocket is SO funky and I LOVE IT!! Stank face listening to this the entire time
Flatline makes me so sad yall, both this song and I’m Home are fitting to be the last song in the track list
I have to say, I wish CBX was able to participate in this comeback so much. Again, they originally freed up their schedules during this promotional period, only for SM to completely disregard that. They are absolutely irreplaceable in EXO and it frustrates me to no end that SM is continuing to hold this petty grudge against them instead of actually trying to come to a resolution.
But hearing what the rest of the EXO members were able to pull off without 2 of the group’s powerhouse vocals makes me so, SO proud.
I know they can’t directly mention their names in public at the moment, but I just know that when Chanyeol was saying at the showcase earlier, that he could hear every member singing a specific part in Crown, I know he was thinking of CBX as well. Honestly, I was thinking the exact same thing when listening to each song: I could quite easily imagine which parts would be so fitting for Chen, Baekhyun, and Xiumin to sing and it’d upgrade the songs to another level.
More than any of us, the EXO members themselves wish that they get to be all 9 again, so I’ll be rooting for them until the day that it becomes a reality. 🤍
Flatline is my favorite so far. Moonlight shadows is amazing ! And what was that kyungsoo’s hum in crazy ? That’s insane. None can do it like him
All the songs are good imo. A solid album. I had conflicting thoughts reg crown. I understand why it is the title track when Back it up is good contender as well

I highly recommend people listen to this with good heaphones if you can, the production is so interesting and so lush.
I already said this in the rkpop thread, but in general I like the mixing of this album a lot more than Exist and DFTF, it’s more open and richer. I also think the songs are a lot less dense and claustrophobic. And I actually liked Exist a lot and am still a shooter for that album, but it can be a *lot* to take in at times, some of the songs are like an assault on your ears (Cream Soda, Regret It, Private Party, Love Fool, No Makeup, Another Day).
I think the songs are all good to amazing, but Crown might be my least favorite one at the moment, and my favorites are Back It Up and Touch & Go (that bridge holy cow). However, my opinions usually change a lot the more I listen to an album. But my extremely early opinion is that it’s their best since Obsession pretty handily. Although a few days into Exist I thought it was their third best album behind Ex’act and DMUMT and I uh do not feel that way about it anymore lol (but I still think it’s really good), so take that with a huge grain of salt.
13 years ago, I thought the History MV had the craziest facecards but the Crown MV got me GASPING FOR AIR
Album of the year? May be my favorite EXO album. And Crown had my jaw on the floor when I was watching the MV. Back It Up, Back Pocket, and Touch & Go are my other faves.

Omgggg this album is already among my top faves! Every track is like a pleasant surprise.
Current top fave tracks are Suffocate, Moonlight Shadows, Back it Up, Back Pocket, Flatline (see that’s alr more than half the album). The other 4 are of course still good and i would rank all 9 tracks above the entire exist album but that’s just me 🤷🏻♀️
