  1. Appeal for what even, just more money wasted, be happy you can get away with raising such bullshit case, pay the money and move on, it’s getting old.

  2. Guessing HYBE will appeal, this seems like its gonna be drawn out for a long time

The injustice of MHJ winning *even though the judge admitted that she planned to take ADOR out from under HYBE* is frying me. My head hurts.

There’s a typo in the article. She is due roughly *$17.7 million USD*, not $1.77 million.

HYBE will also have to pay $1.18 million USD to the former VP and $970k to a former creative director, plus the legal fees for the case.

  5. I guess there’s a legal difference between discussing something and actually doing it. She can plan all she wants but until she actually does it it’s not a breach.

  6. I am so confused about legal processes in korea. Maybe this is because I’m European or maybe because I don’t have a background in law, but I am so confused????

Either way, the rich get richer and new jeans careers have imploded 🙃

  7. this isn’t really unexpected, despite what many people tried to convince themselves of.

the messages hybe themselves leaked lacked any concrete plan; it was just her fantasizing about possible ways out that were all impossible to enact. that was obviously never going to be taken seriously by a court. on top of that, korean media is reporting that she provided evidence showing she had already disclosed to hybe’s ceo at the time that she was unhappy, that she would be talking to outside investors, and that he consented.

in addition, anyone with a working brain knew she didn’t pull the illit accusation out of her ass. the original thread for “magnetic” on this sub was mostly people pointing out how it sounded exactly like newjeans. that was the overwhelming reaction across social media at the time. and, as the judge ruled, she did the right thing by raising her concerns through internal channels. a lot of people tried to rewrite history by claiming she exposed everything of her own free will at the press conference, but as she herself said at that conference, she had already raised the issue internally and only went public in response to hybe’s selective leaks to dispatch.

all in all, unsurprising—but given how unhinged this whole debate has been on reddit, it’s no wonder so many people are shocked. a lot of people were willing to ignore facts just to believe their preferred version of events.

  8. HYBE is going to appeal based on this:

While the court acknowledged that Min Hee Jin had explored the possibility of ADOR’s independence, it determined that such actions did not constitute a serious breach of duty.

This is a interesting take from the court and HYBE will use this as starting point to build the appeal.
It’s like saying she was caught too early so that it doesn’t constitute damage. Appellate court will likely disagree.

I’m not a fan of the woman but she’s owed her put options, her taking away NJs has nothing to do with that.

It’s the same way her fight with Ador-HYBE had nothing to do with NJs so that’s why the Judge ruled in favour of Ador for that case. We might not like it but it makes sense they ruled this way🤷🏾‍♀️

I don’t think it’s a problem with Korean law, it’s the precedence we’ve seen in most parts of the world with similar legal systems.

Is this back breaking money for hybe?? No. I assume they will place the money in an escrow account as then appeal just because they can. They knew they were not winning, because no plans were ever put in motion. They will drag this out because they can. Mhj is the one who needs the money, she still hasn’t paid bpd’s loan, she has a new agency, endless litigations. They will frustrate her for the next two years and when they lose, just give her the money.

  11. Reading Korean verdicts is so funny.

It’s always “well the accused did everything they are accused of but they didn’t do it well enough to constitute a substantial loss for the other side so they are innocent!”.

  12. Hybe should just move on. Pretty sure they’ll earn back the money they will pay her easily.

Outside of actual insider trading, this was going to be very difficult to win.

I hate to give MHJ any credit whatsoever, but her track record for walking away from her trainwreck totally unscathed, while everyone else goes up in flames, is truly impressive. And New Jeans fans will thank her for it! You can’t make this stuff up.

Even more kids (and their parents) will be lining up at her agency’s door to get a shot at fame, especially now that there’s a clear financial pipeline. I wish them luck.

  14. This sub is so funny because people always bend over backwards to defend a $10+ billion corporation. Couldn’t be me, but you do you ig

  15. The only ones I feel sorry for are the New Jeans members. They should have stayed out of it and waited to see how the pennies dropped. Their parents should have protected them. Both MHJ and HYBE were looking after their interests.

  16. Gotta admit, reactions on the subs are hilarious.

If result went other way around, this post would already have 1K+ upvotes and people clowning both MHJ and NJ.

I’m sorry for both groups that got dragged into this, artists don’t deserve that. It’s okay to admit that both MHJ and HYBE had their fails, through HYBE still appears to less in the wrong here, when you look at overall situation.

  17. Suitable-Database182 on

This is an expensive lesson for Hybe. At least they have the BTS money to pay her off

  18. Color me surprised but congratulations on the win!

Most revealing (and damning to HYBE’s case IMO) is the statement that HYBE’s c-suite was already made aware of possible ADOR selloff to PE or other investors and gave it the green light. If so, they didn’t have much of a leg to stand on in the first place.

I can’t say it makes MHJ’s PR tactics appear any less nonsensical or damaging to…well, everybody even remotely in her orbit, but it does make HYBE’s whole approach look like a hell of a ridiculous longshot.

In fact, I’d say it took us from

“MHJ seems like an idiot, newjeans seem naĂŻve, and HYBE seems cold but understandable”

    to

“holy fuck they need to check the pipes in that building for lead because something in the water made everyone involved in this case complete boneheads”

  19. barbarapalvinswhore on

And NewJeans has to bear the real cost of this shitfest. Five shining career ruined by corporate infighting.

  20. I’m not really bothered she won I’m annoyed at judge fir bringing up Illit when he didn’t need to here

  21. And that’s that. Something many people called anyways. That Min Heejin would win her case but not NewJeans.
