Continuing this appreciation series, I wanted to talk about Minghao and the kind of presence he brings to Seventeen, one that feels calm, introspective, and quietly powerful.

Minghao is someone who might not always demand attention in obvious ways, but there’s something about him that naturally draws you in the more you watch him. It’s not loud or overwhelming, it’s subtle, intentional, and deeply grounded.

What stands out most about Minghao is his mindset. The way he approaches life, emotions, and growth feels incredibly thoughtful and real. He doesn’t just say things to comfort people in the moment, he says things that make you pause and reflect. Sometimes his words are blunt, but they’re never empty. There’s always sincerity behind them, like he genuinely wants people to understand themselves better and grow.

There’s also a strong sense of individuality in him that I really admire. Minghao doesn’t try to fit into expectations, whether it’s through his art, his fashion, or the way he expresses himself. He’s very sure of who he is, and at the same time, still open to evolving. That balance between self-assurance and growth is something that feels really inspiring.

As a performer, his presence is just as distinct. His dance style is so controlled and expressive, there’s an elegance and precision to the way he moves that makes every performance feel intentional. He doesn’t just execute choreography, he interprets it, and you can feel that difference when you watch him.

Off stage, there’s a softer, quieter kind of care in the way he is with the members. He might not always be the most outwardly expressive, but the way he listens, gives advice, and stays present shows how much he cares. It’s not loud, but it’s steady and genuine.

At the same time, he has his own kind of humor. It’s a bit dry, sometimes unexpectedly savage, and it catches you off guard in the best way. That contrast between his calm, philosophical side and his playful moments makes him even more interesting to watch.

Another thing I really appreciate is how he is with fans. Minghao doesn’t lean into a heavily parasocial image or try to create unrealistic expectations. Instead, he’s very honest about boundaries and individuality. He’s someone who openly reminds fans to focus on their own lives, to not lose themselves in anything or anyone, and to build their own identity outside of being a fan. And rather than feeling distant, that honesty actually makes his connection with fans feel more genuine. It feels like he respects people enough to want them to grow as individuals, not just stay comfortable.

Minghao feels like someone who brings a sense of balance, to the group and to the people watching him. There’s a calm strength in him, a quiet confidence, and a way of thinking that stays with you even after the moment passes.

The more you notice him, the more there is to appreciate.
