Yeah, it’s the kind of interview where you already know the questions and answers, but I just love seeing this man pop up on my feeds and get his moment. Look at that beaming face saying “Hi, nice to meet you, I’m Taemin!”. He’s like an excited kid, and the split screen of him on stage and in the studio only amplifies the charm of this. I also liked that they kept the translator on screen.

in the past, when (let’s not name names) some kpop acts had minor issues with singing live, or stage presence, or other things like that at Coachella, I remember persistent comments popping up here and there saying “they should have sent Taemin, he would have blown everyone’s socks off”! ..but of course, no one really thought it was possible, with SM keeping him pretty much caged up in Asia. Fans will never forgive SM for not letting him take the brilliantly designed and engineered Metamorph (remember that insane rotating stage and upside-down Rizzness opening?!) anywhere outside of Korea and Japan. also they cut his Guilty solo out of year-end shows and allowed some rookies to cover it instead. so grateful he escaped SM’s clutches and flew free into the world!

Being a Taemate feels crazy right now because if I put my phone away for just an hour, I am missing some kind of content. 😭
Even though this interview was of course very standard, it’s lovely to see him embraced like this, and I think the interviewer did a great job researching him.
And well, we got one spicy detail – he said he‘s gonna show more skin on weekend 2…. 😳

I love how cosy this interview felt. There’s other times for deep questions, but after the last year it was healing to watch Taemin be rightfully praised, able to express himself freely in Korean (the translator’s smile was so kind), clips of his great performance running in the background.
