The next two songs are from the mini-album "A Midsummer Nmixx's Dream". Sullyoon went on Lee Mujin Service to promote it but she sang the other song on the album.

  • MV
  • It's Live
  • Recording – It's interesting how these keep getting longer. The initial ones were just a few minutes, then Expergo they were 8-10 per song, now this one is 20 minutes long.
  • Stage Practice – Live vocals as usual.

  1. This is such a fun song, and they look like they have a lot of fun in the dance. It’s not an easy song to sing though. They are constantly having to switch between their head and chest voice (or maybe even falsetto sometimes) — they’re not all equally good at it (at least not back when they were doing this song) but they manage to do it pretty well even in the stage practice. Several of them mentioned how hard it was to sing in the recording comments.

The “It’s Live” version is even better than the studio recording though. The additional ad-libs are great, their outfits are great (mostly), and they still look like they are having fun.

In the Tiny Desk concert when they are introducing See That, Haewon says something like “An oddball like Party O’Clock?” And I don’t know if it’s a part of their sets anymore. I get that maybe it’s not a typical song for them but I like it!

Underrated song imo, the it’s live version is one of their best songs to this day. Those last 45 seconds are masterful 🥹

Heh, well, maybe not their best work, but it’s easy to listen with a smile while they’re doing their mingling-mingling, jingling-jingling. 🙂

  4. I am a devout Party O’Clock enjoyer and the jokes about Nmixx leaving the song behind make me sad 😔 I get hyped up every time I hear “Come on over right now, come on over right now”. And who can resist jumping up from their seat and dancing along with Bae when she sings, “It’s a party, every time when you’re next to me, so now it’s a party tonight”? Couldn’t be me!

  5. Carried heavy by masterful vocals. The same with Rollercoaster. Not the type of songs I’d ever listen to, they sound too much like generic pop. But because it’s NMIXX, eventually I started loving both

  6. It’s a fun song, and I always laugh at the Face ID line, but I do prefer the It’s Live version again.

I can’t quite put my finger on why Lily sounds different on this compared to their later songs though. Is it just that she doesn’t have to belt much (at all)?

  7. My favorite NMIXX song until Adore U came out and dethroned it. Their live stages and their legendary live vocals were what made me interested in the first place and led me to stan them all these years later. So sad they didn’t perform it in the concert when I went to see them

Criticism over this track is not groundbreaking in the fandom, but I have to say this is a hard song to sell to me. On one hand, it is catchy, especially the mingling/jingling post-chorus. The girls sound like they had a lot of fun whenever they performed it (which hasn’t been a while, sad to say, as NMIXX also seemed to be ignoring this entire single album’s existence **😭😭**)

On the other hand, none of the musical ideas really work well for me. Personally, I felt like it was an overcorrection from the lack of a hard change-up in LMLT, and the “it’s party time” section really interrupts the flow of the song. The verses are also… not particularly memorable to me? Certain lyrics stand out (like the Face ID line), but the song bounces so much from the rap to the more sung parts, switches in cadences, and lyrical rhythm that it just kinda… exists? I’ll sing along to it if it comes on, but I’m not itching to replay it or itching to hear a section again.

But hey, not every song has to be perfect, and I felt that this song was needed in their evolution, as they continued to develop their identity, sound, and the lore of MIXXTOPIA. For what it’s worth, I am glad this song exists as a fascinating facet of their growing discography. It is a song only NMIXX is able to pull off 🙂

The it’s live makes it hard for me to listen to any other version. The ad libs are necessary to build the song as otherwise it doesnt have a sufficient build, and the way they have so much fun on it there just sells it so well.
