I didn’t know what happened, so I just looked it up and I was shocked when I saw what it said. As someone who speaks dutch natively, what he wore said ”Ronny a horny [dutch n-word] boy”. They really should’ve checked the meaning before he wore it.

Korean and Chinese people taking this more seriously in the comments than English speakers? Good on the east for being woke.

he’s worn that shirt repeatedly, and now he apologizing? nah, he can go somewhere else. deleting his music as i type

Album title with racist connotations and now this…. I do not understand why people still listen to this guy’s music…

It wasn’t a good look for him but people are still being weird. He apologized now and won’t wear it again isn’t that what people wanted? They’re trying to use the fact that he wore it like 10+ years ago as a gotcha moment when that just kinda solidifies he really doesn’t know what it means. It’s in Dutch it’s reasonable 20 years ago he didn’t know what it meant or don’t even look and people sounded silly saying “all this time he didn’t do his research.” Like duh? He probably didn’t know then, tossed it to the back of his closet and brought it out again.
I think it shows he’s dumb to not check what a shirt says but it’s not really something to hate over if someone really didn’t know. That’s happened before with certain kpop shirts/outfits. Let’s not act like the average person always checks what a shirt says, sometimes if it’s cute we just buy and only later may realize it says something crazy. Idk it would just be good if the hate could be proportional to the actual incident .

He’s disgusting, and he’s proved this time and time again.

Lmao once again with the classic PR statement only AFTER being called out. How many times will this keep happening in Kpop? Literally does no one learn their lesson in this industry?

yeah the front of the shirt is just as bad can’t hide behind language barrier here.

  11. He’s way too big that he knows he’ll get away with anything. Really sick of this guy to be honest.

it’s insane how many second chances everyone gives him that he doesn’t deserve. I’m not even black but it’s exhausting watching people like him do stuff like this when his whole thing is copying black people. It’s not like he’s a rookie and doesn’t know better. Very disappointing

I think he already knew what that shirt meant. He could have easily translated that shirt with a translating app. It’s so easy to do that nowadays. It’s really just an apology because he was busted, not because he is ‘sorry’.

He should apologize himself. Ugh this habit of grown ass idols hiding behind their companies annoys me so much. Grow up and take responsibilities for your actions yourself. Not everything needs to be a company statement.

Ntm, kiss of life literally got cancelled for mocking black culture. I really wish men like him would get the same treatment.

This isn’t GD’s first controversy involving antiblack imagery and while it’s not up to me whether or not this apology is accepted, it was absolutely warranted.

I don’t understand why he owns that shirt in the first place, I don’t even understand why the shirt exists at all because the front is just as offensive as the words on the back. And I really have to wonder how this is at least the second time he’s worn this without a single soul on his time noticing how absolutely awful it is. If at his big age GD somehow doesn’t know better, somebody on his team absolutely should. There’s really no excusing this.

As a Dutch person I am shocked to see a racist slur in my language. Should be a hard lesson to always translate your wearables (picture on his top said enough in my opinion).
