I brought this over because the critic who wrote a highly positive review of the Forward album last year recently posted his thoughts on Heavy Serenade on social media. The entire page was run through Google Translate, so some parts may sound a bit awkward, but I think the overall meaning should still come across clearly.
ps. I also recommend reading the review he wrote about Forward. The link is below.

And still gives it a 6/7….
The bit about Heavy Serenade’s similarities to Blue Valentine and Forward perfectly encapsulates how I feel about this EP. It keeps the mainstream melodies of BV while incorporating the weirder and more interesting instrumentation of Forward. Heavy Serenade easily takes second place in my NMIXX projects ranking.
Forward is still the best album in their discography. It’s going to be hard to displace the combo of High Horse/Know About Me/Papillon/Ocean out of one release.
I have been a fan since their weird debut, listening O.O repeatedly. Absolutely loved “Love is Lonely” and “Know about Me”. I thought I was alone, thinking I was the only person in the world who listened to NMIXX.
I guess time has changed. They deserve all the best things in the world. I hope Squ4d keep fighting.
It took me some time to warm up to the title track, but I’ll have to agree that Heavy Seranade is better than Forward. I’m not saying that the songs are better (except for Crescendo, which is now my favorite NMIXX song), just the track listing as a whole. For example, I simply can’t stand Golden Recipe to this day (I’m sure this will be Slingshot for many others), while Heavy Serenade is a non skip project for me
Why is the reviewer calling them “N.Mix”, “N-Mix”, and NMIXX all within the same thread?
I just love the Korean sentence structure when they are praising someone:
Seriously, this is so well made?
Impactful word and them a question that is not a question lol
The score is 6 out of 7?
That’s some very bold praise, especially at the end. You love to see it, and as an extremely biased NSWER I totally agree!
It did get me wondering what the hell it would take to get a 7/7
