QUESTION MOSTLY FOCUSED ON PEOPLE THAT STARTED LISTENING TO BTS YEARS AFTER THEIR FIRST ALBUM‼️

So, i started listening to BTS like 1 year and 2 months ago, and i really love their music, live presentations, series, etc. They became my second favorite group/artist of all time. My BTS playlist has like 125 songs that i love (not just that i listened once) and there is no day i dont listen to them.

The thing here is, that i still have to listen to some albums. I kinda have a reason, and its because i need my time lo listen to a full album (even if I've already listened 3 or 4 songs from them) I dont want to rush it, i want to have a peaceful day, with nothing to do and just start the album, listening from Start to Finish, 4 or 5 times, thats why i still have to listen like 3 mini álbums an LY Answer (+ every solo career except Jimin because its my Bias)

So, i wanted to know, if you started listening to them since 2016-2018 or even since 2023 or 2025… How long did it take you to catch up on their full discography? (Not counting Soundcloud, which I know is a whole other world, and there are tons of unreleased songs there) And also, if you started listening to them in the last couple years, how long did it take you to listen to the full solo carreer of everyone?? Thanks and hope everyone has a great day 🙂

It’s been years and I’m still working on it LMAO, it only took me a few months to get to all the albums, but I’m still hunting down all the Soundcloud stuff, the OST tracks, the random singles, collabs with other artists, secret/hidden songs or songs that are only on one version of an album, the solo mixtapes released before Chapter 2…. 😅

I started listening to them sep 25 and got through 75% of their discography by February:) I’m literally such a baby army but I went down the rabbit hole full force and am not planning on crawling out any time soon!! I have around 300 songs on my playlist of all bangtan songs (including solo albums and featuring BTS and the members) and I listen to them everyday, literally even if I’m studying I’m listening to mono. Layover and BE (my fav solo and BTS albums). My study bangtan playlist is 7 hours long like

My plan is to listen to the whole discography before July (as they’re in London in July) I couldn’t get tickets thoooo😭😭

ARMY since 2020: I think about 2 months? I used to listen to one album a day while working, and after work I would look for the music videos and performance videos. After I joined armytwt and found the translation accounts, I listened to everything again while following the translations.

  4. I dove deep into their discography (including the translations) in 2020 because we had more time to spare than usual, so it took me about 6-8 months to listen to all their albums, collaborations, SoundCloud tracks, mixtapes, and OSTs, etc.
I’m still finding random stuff that Suga produced but I think I’m now up to date.

I’m a big music nerd, I used to work in the music business and it’s my main hobby, so it was probably easier for me to find stuff than most people.

Years honestly. There were periods when I just could listen to my actual favurites repatedly (and obviously I listen to other music.) But I always find something new-lol. It is like the performance rabbit hole on youtube. They have so many performances-but you can always find another one-they worked non stop since they debuted

About 3 overnight shifts at Lowes lol. Saw them on the cover of Time magazine in the checkout lane in 2020 and never looked back.

Army since 2016, and honestly, it takes me monthssssss because I don’t know about albums. All I knew that time was to search ‘BTS/BTS song/BTS MV’ on YouTube, and whatever pops out, that’s what I would know. I remember being so happy whenever I discovered another song of theirs by scrolling so much on YouTube and listening/checking every ‘BTS song compilation’ made on youtube to check whatever song I haven’t know yet lol. I realized late that I could have searched BTS albums and the list of the songs would all be there. But well, it’s a fun journey.

  8. I got Proof. I wasn’t about to buy ALL their albums. Major bucks there.

I became ARMY during LY: Answer era in 2018. It took me I would say around 6-8 months to go through their discography including solo material (though there wasn’t a lot of it at this point). But it’s worth noting that besides Mono and Waste It On Me, there were no new releases during this 8 months. It gave me a lot of time to backtrack without feeling like I was missing out on new releases. I also was watching their variety show content in chronological order at the same time (Rookie Kings, AHS, Bon Voyage, Run BTS, etc.) cause I really wanted to get to know them as they grew. And while doing this, I wasn’t really active in ARMY spaces at all, so all of my energy was just on music and content.

It’s much more challenging for ARMY of the last few years with the sheer number of solo releases, so don’t feel bad if it takes you longer or you hold something off until it feels right. This is a hobby you are meant to enjoy!

Listening to the official Korean discography probably took a few weeks but really knowing the albums is an ongoing process.

I sort of know which era most songs belong to but I wouldn’t be able to tell which specific album they’re from. Is Autumn Leaves from HYYH pt1 or pt2? Is Go Go from LY: Her or LY: Tear? And there are still a couple of songs which I’m not sure if they’re from the LY era or the MOTS era.

Arirang is the first album for which I can name all the songs 😅

The Japanese discography is still a huge blind spot (I’ve only listened to the Japanese albums once) and I haven’t started getting into the SoundCloud songs

I became ARMY in 2019. I listed to their full discography within a few months, but I had a long bus commute at the time so I had over 2 hours a day to listen to music. It was an excellent way to dive into their albums!

i’m an army since 2021, i’m discovering their discography
they have too many hidden gems on soundcloud😭

  13. Ive been ARMY since 2020… I may still not have gone through their whole discography…

    A solid 85% though I would guess.

Disclaimer : Hot take below so hear me out with an open mind

i am a late 2020 to early 2021 army and i was done with their discography (includes mvs+sketches+performances soundcloud releases)in 2021 and EVERY other piece of content like concerts, bon voyage, runbts,BTS gayo etc etc till mid 2022 and yes that also includes some stuff from predebut
although i haven’t stanned someone this hard before BTS covering every piece of content from BTS came naturally to me because I was obsessed with them so I had to consume everything they have put out.
I usually don’t like to put labels on what makes you an army and what not but I think personally (hey just my opinion not necessarily it’s a fact) if you are not done with their entire discography that is with all the songs (audio music) they have put out (mv not included) in 8 months (giving 12 months out of kindness) of you being an “army” then i don’t think you should call yourself an army instead you could say you are a casual stan of BTS (WHICH IS COMPLETELY OKAY) i know this sounds harsh but trust me there are ARMYs who work full time and are 100 x more dedicated than me for BTS and then given someone says oh i am 12 years of army I haven’t heard this song by BTS in my entire life of STANNING them is really weird. (to me)

PS : I AM/WAS A TWITTER ARMY AND WE GO CRAZY FOR BTS OVER THERE SO YOU CAN’T BLAME ME

  15. i have yet to hear every song, i just found Sea earlier this year. i’ve been listening more since covid. i was alone in the office so had the music on blast. then like today i was listening to my general slow song music and a bts one was in there that ive only heard like 1-2 times. many gems in there overall

November and got through it all in two/three days since i listen to a lot of music

  17. I started listening March 20th with ARIRANG and I’ve listening to it 95 times and the rest of Spotify’s This is BTS every day since April 20th maybe. I’ve searched a few songs not on that playlist that have come up in other media I’ve devoured since March 20th.

I was lucky enough to have a friend/Army going to the D1 Tampa show and she very easily convinced me to drive the 3 hours to go to D2 with her and it was one of the best nights.

So it might not be all of the discography but maybe 50%? I’ve seen someone say there is a Playlist with every song in chronological order that I’m going to search for and listen to next.

  18. I first heard of them in April 2019 and thanks to my ARMY daughter, I went through their entire discography in a month or two. She was a great guide. She initially sent me, in her words, “A Very Biased BTS Album Tracks Master List,” with a bit of info about each track, I listened and reported back and then went off on my own to listen to the rest. I made my own “Best of BTS” playlist that I’m constantly fiddling with and I revisit their entire discography frequently. I always have music playing so I’ll just queue them up and let ‘em play.

I joined Army about when jk released golden. My long-term army friend made me a playlist and guided me through all the albums and it took about a week and a half.

  20. No_Literature_1922 on

I’m not caught up and I started listening 3 years ago. Recently a playlist came up called “actual soft bts songs” on YouTube and I found some gems on there.

I knew some good stuff from the most beautiful moment in life, but I didn’t really know anything off the first three albums (besides no more dreams, just one day and any other obvious singles)

I thought I wasn’t gonna be a fan of the older stuff bc it’s more heavy and hip hop , but there’s some stuff I like! I think there wil always be something to discover

  21. Beautiful-Buy99 on

I’ve been a casual fan since 2021, I started paying attention to them more in 2023 and only started stanning them in 2025 so like mid to end of Chapter 2. It’s only when I started stanning BTS that I realized just how many solo work went unnoticed by me before then.

So I started by catching up with every members latest solo albums that I haven’t heard yet. I remember being present at Jimin, JK, Yoongi, and Tae’s solo music but since I was younger at that time, I only watched the MVs and nothing else. Jhope’s JITB, RM’s Indigo and Jin’s The Astronaut all went unnoticed by me. By the time Jin was discharged of military service though, I was already a stan so I have 100% listened to every solo music release since that moment, including Jimin’s Muse and RM’s RPWP.

I already knew all of the major hits of the group but there was soooo much I needed to catch up on. I liked this time period as a fan because I was discovering another underrated BTS song everyday. But the thing is i’d just be like “oh this song exists and everyone loves it” but it’d take me weeks or even months to actually play the song. Then when I finally do, i’d be like “wtf this is a banger!”

So i’m in a situation rn where I know the titles of 99% BTS songs but there are quite a lot I haven’t actually listened to (I plan to, trust). It’s like having a list of movies you wanna watch but it takes forever to get around to it. Sometimes tho I’d randomly decide to go on a “BTS songs I’ve never listened to” marathon on YT. One day I did this and the Louder than Bombs/House of Cards/Coffee/134043 lyric videos run was INSANE lmao

Recently i FINALLY listened to Just One Day because of everyone talking abt it when it was one of the surprise songs in Mexico City and ugh this shit BANGS! This is one of the many reasons I love the Arirang tour as a fairly recent Army, the surprise song encores are convincing me to listen to their old songs and it’s so much fun!

There’s still RM’s Mono and Agust D’s self titled album I have to listen to 😫 as well as a whole lot of songs debut era to hyyh era

  22. Complete-Tangelo8151 on

I started listening to them in August/September 2025 (after July, before October 😅) and before Arirang came out I had listened to all the BTS albums and all the solo albums. Plus many singles and collabs (there’s so many, it’s hard to track them all down).

I walk 30-45 min as my commute 3 times a week, it’s generally there perfect timing to listen to an album. I listened to a few longer albums on long car drives.

I may get a little too much into things, a little too fast though. I’m somewhat worried I’ll burn out, which often happens, but so far I’ve slowed down but haven’t lost interest.

I hadn’t listened to the entire discography before tho I’d listened to some songs across a bunch of albums after Butter. Became obsessed after Arirang. Went to Day 1 Tampa. Listened to the entire discography on Spotify the week after.

Edit: only BTS songs. Haven’t listened to solo work much except for Jin, who’s my ❤️

  25. Saucy_Totchie on

Yall are able to get through the whole thing?!

Ive been a fan since like late 2020 and I just go whenever whenever however lol. There’s no real plan, just pick an era and listen. I dont think I may have gone through the whole thing yet. I think I just havent touched the Japanese discography.

  26. I’m basically listening to music in headphones 70+% of the time I am awake. If I listen to just one song from any artist and really like it, I will go and listen to their whole discography right away, and not really listen to anything else until I finish going through their whole discography. I do this all the time. Most artists I follow on spotify, I have listened to their whole discography, and will listen to any new song or album that comes up from them. It usually takes anywhere from just a day, to about a week, to get through all of an artists discography, depending how long they’ve been around and/or how much they have up.

I started following bts around 2020/21, and it was some time shortly after the ON:E streamed concert that I first fell down the “I just want to memorize their names” rabbit hole lol. So probably within 1-4 weeks after that, I had listened to their entire discography, and then continued to listen to any new songs or albums from them as they came out (as a group, and their solo work).

But I’m a homebody who spends most of their time alone and listening to music has been a staple for me for my whole life since I was probably a baby lol, so it’s hard for me to wrap my head around the fact that there exist people who *don’t* listen to music during any and every moment they have to themselves at home 🤣. I have headphones with good noise canceling, and there have been 2 times now I didn’t even hear my housemate with a room across from mine having shouting fights with his ex, until he’d literally text me to apologize for the noise, and I’d be like “huh??” 😅 because I have headphones on blasting music too much.

  27. 3 songs and I went down the rabbit hole. Mic Drop to idol to On and then I absolutely needed more. Gobbled up everything I could 😂

  28. It took me maybe 3 years to get to D&W (starting from Persona then going back) but it ended up being one of my faves.

  29. I’m old and disorganized. I’m not sure whether I’m discovering new songs or re-discovering songs that I last listened to a few years ago but forgot. 😃 Who knows? Who cares? It’s all good!
