The people producing, engineering, and mixing Hearts2Hearts songs are doing an unusually good job.
Kpop is excellent across the board, so there is a lot of good producing and mixing happening, but I started following Hearts2Hearts because a song kept coming on on an Apple Music Kpop station that made me stop working out to listen.
This happened many times. Finally, I looked to see what song it was. It was Style by Hearts2Hearts. The chorus, the vocal stacking, could have been grating, but it is just so pleasing to my ear. The last time a song really stood out to me for the way it was mixed was Love Me Love Me by Winner.
And the last group where I really loved it when the “whole group” sang the chorus was WJSN.
Come to find out that Hearts2Hearts are incredibly funny, entertaining idols. But it was just the production value that got me interested. And, again, there is high production value everywhere in Kpop. I wouldn’t say it’s because Style and their other songs were done “better” necessarily, but the choices they made just really appeal to me.
